finally losing your attachment to someone who wasn't good for you, is top tier
do you ever think about how if you dive into the ocean and go deeper and deeper you will pass through layers of darker and darker blue until everything is black and cold and the pressure will be so intense that it will kill you without protection but if you keep going you will find little glowing specks of light, and if you go up into the sky and go higher and higher you will pass through layers of darker and darker blue until everything is black and cold and the pressure will be so intense that it will kill you without protection but if you keep going you will find little glowing specks of light

"should autism exist in my fantasy story?" yes. "should psychosis exist in my fantasy story?" yes. "should personality disorders exist in my fantasy story?" yes. "should ADHD exist in my fantasy story? should intellectual disabilities exist in my fantasy story? should dissociative disorders exist in my fantasy story? should trauma disorders exist in my fantasy story? should anxiety disorders exist in my fantasy story? should mood disorders exist in my fantasy story? should--"
yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
you don't have to include their real actual names and you don't have to have main characters with every single one of these things. But neurodivergent and mentally ill people should EXIST in fantasy stories and fantasy societies, because we exist in real life. We deserve to be acknowledged.
I mean, people do this anyway. A skilled and observant writer will pick up on the diversity of personalities in real life people they know, and incorporate those into into their characters.
Thatās why we have tropes like the Absent-Minded Professor etc. which we can all agree is ADHD or autism-coded. Maybe the archetype and its various iterations were inspired by real-life people with ADHD or autism the author knew, and itās possible even those people didnāt know they had ADHD/autism, or the author didnāt know.
Literally all OP is asking for is that these things be included knowingly and deliberately. Itās the difference between writing a horse into your story because youāre vaguely aware horses exist, and writing a horse into your story after actually researching what horses are like.
In summer, the Hitokotonushi Shrine in Ibaraki sets up on oasis for bees where they can safely collect water
This is everything I mean literally everything. They are doing Godās work together
Just a reminder that Frederick Banting, discoverer of the process to synthesise insulin, sold the patent for $1 because it was so important to him that it be widely available and easily mass produced. Yes, you should be angry.
This is the open Insulin project. An open source movement to develop a cheap and unrestricted recipe for producing rapid acting (lispro) and long acting (glargine) insulin.
These modern forms of insulin are still patented, and only the more dangerous less effective forms have had their parents expire.

That thread asking people how they would get out of homelessness if they only had $20 is literally people saying "I would simply just'" and then saying something that is literally impossible, unavailable, or has been made illegal by local city governments.
"I'd find a minimum wage job and save up money while I stayed at a shelter!" Who is hiring you when you don't have an address, your ID, or a car? Shelter is full. Also you have to leave the shelter at 6am and show up at 1pm to get a bed. You also have to pay to stay there.
I would panhandle and save!" Panhandling does not pay. Most people don't have cash anymore + are hostile to unhoused ppl. It's illegal in a lot of places = huge citation or in jail. You also have to buy food and supplies daily. They get stolen or thrown out by the cops.
All while this is happening your mental health deteriorates. People don't respond to you when you speak to them and you're kicked out of shops and restaurants constantly. Your stuff is constantly getting stolen. Assaults are common. You have to stay awake at night to stay safe.
There are more people falling into homelessness every day than can be lifted out because of skyrocketing rents, low wages, lack of healthcare, mass incarceration, domestic violence, etc. There is no "just" getting out of it when you're in it.
Also to all these scenarios add more layers of oppression: Being disabled, woman, elderly, LGBTQ+, a person of color, and the more difficult it is. It's not a coincidence that even though Black people only make up 8% of the population they're 40% of unhoused people - it's racism.
LA has made it illegal to sit, stand, lie, sleep in 20% of the city. If you don't know all those areas by memory you could get arrested or fined at any moment if a cop comes by. Sweeps are constant so you have to memorize that schedule or all your stuff gets thrown out.
How do you go to any appointments for benefits if places don't let you come inside with your tent/backpack/belongings that will get stolen the second you leave them unattended? What do you do when you don't have the $35 for your ID that's been thrown away every time you get one?
Also you're unhoused in this scenario which means your credit and rental history is probably bad. Even if you miraculously saved up the $5,000 you need to move into an apartment- a landlord is never going to rent you one with bad credit/eviction history.
I could go on and on but it's terrifying how uninformed people are about how little help there is for unhoused people when the vast majority of people are just a couple paychecks away from being unhoused themselves.

today at work a man brought a pug in on a leash and that pug was so excited andĀ happy to see me it was as if we were old friends whoĀ havent been in contact in 7 years i felt so loved in that moment
today a bassettĀ hound came in and waggedĀ her tail so furiously all ofĀ her loose skin started to jiggle and she was so pumped to see me i want more dogs to come into my store they make my life whole and worthwhile
Iām so glad this came back cause a golden retriever named Milly came in today who putĀ her paws on my register counter and wanted to sayĀ hi to me and I lovedĀ her so much and I scratchedĀ her ears and she gave me that classic dopey dog smileĀ
yesterday a girl came in withĀ her boyfriend and inĀ herĀ hand was a tiny tan colored dog that she told me was a chihuahua/pekingese mix andĀ heĀ had a severe underbite and one little canine tooth was poking out andĀ his ears were like bent at the tips and i immediately commented onĀ how amazingĀ he was and she goes omg thanks do you wanna petĀ him and i was like there is literally nothing more i want to do while being on the clock right now than to pet this incredible tiny dog andĀ he was so sweet and licked myĀ hand andĀ his name was spikeĀ
yesterday these people came in and put a blanket into one of our shopping baskets and it started to move and i was like omg whats in there and they set it down on the counter and the blanket kept moving and the suspense was so good like is it gonna be a cat is it gonna be a ferret maybe a lizard and thenĀ the smallest chihuahua ive ever seen in my life poppedĀ her littleĀ head out and licked my finger and i diedĀ
A baby german shepherd named Jonathan came in tonight and since i was on the sales floor and not behind a counter i say to the owner omg can i pet this angel and they were like yeah of course and i crouched down and Jonathan ran into my arms and almost tripped over his puppy feet it was 12/10
TODAY a german shepherd named london grabbed one of our lanterns off the shelf and was carrying it around and the owner was like,Ā ālondon no, weāre not getting thatā and gave him the merchandise she was buying instead and he carried it to me and dropped it on the counter at my register and i could have criedĀ
I want everyone to know both London and Jonathan (Jonnie) came in the other day on the same day. Jonnie is much larger since the last time I saw him but still sweet and still acts like a pup, he barked at something in our footwear department. London still likes to carry things and put his paws up on my register to say hello, he carried the insoles his owner bought out the door for her. Also thanks for the notes, itās nice to see so many people appreciate dogs on here. Another reminder, I see a lot of dogs because I work in a sporting goods store in a strip mall next door to a Petco and we absolutely allow dogs in our store. I live in a mountain town in Colorado and dogs are common here because there are lots of fun outdoor stuff to do with them.Ā
A sheltie in a Petco shopping cart came in yesterday and her name was Sadie and she was so excited to say hi that she jumped out of the cart, onto my register counter, but she missed and Mufasaād her way to the floor, but she was okay. The owner just let her sit on the counter and she was very well behaved and she gently smelled every item I scanned and also my hand. She was obsessed with her neck being scratched.Ā
today a black lab name paxton came in off leash and he jiggled his way into our back room because the door was open and i yelled He Is Employed! and told his owner that weād be happy to hire him and then eventually he made his way up to the front by himself and into the register area behind the counter and now heās my new managerĀ
my boss sent me this picture she took from the window at work today after i left. its not a dog, but it is a goat wearing a cowboy hat.Ā
today a 12 week old dichromatic pitbull puppy named Spot was so tired that he was splayed out on our tile flooring, all four legs sticking out while his people tried on shoes. i asked to pet him and he wagged his tail and rolled over so i could scratch his belly
Today my boss found a lost little Australian shepherd puppy without a collar running around the parking lot and caught her and brought her in the store and I played with her on my lunch break and she was so cute and so sweet and was probably no older than like 9 weeks. Eventually her people came and claimed her. Her name is Panda and sheās in the process of being trained as a service dog for an elderly veteran with one leg.
today a bengal kitten named strider came in and he licked my finger. hes not a dog but hes is very importantĀ
Sadie the sheltie came back in the other day, i recognized her immediately and she got so stoked that she barked at me out of joy. honestly bless herĀ
a guy came in yesterday with a german shepherd that deadass knew the difference between left and right
its not a dog and its not in my store but it is a rattlesnake and it was outside of my store. the guy put a wild western diamondback rattlesnake in a dog crate in his car and then it slithered out and was just loose and angry in his car. it took 25 minutes to get it out. he also had a 3 legged german shepherd that hated the entire experience
