Recently i’ve been getting videos on my tiktok fyp of a girl documenting the process of her de matting her hair after a bad depressive episode and i’ve had about 4 arguments in her comments with people being disgustingly rude towards her, so here i am giving my unwarranted opinion as i do.
If your hygiene is impacted because of mental health, you are not disgusting, you are not failing, you are not bad for it.
Way back around 2020-2022 i was in a severely depressed state like it was BAD, a lot of shit was going wrong for me and i didn’t even want to live let alone take a damn shower. During this time i was still closeted so my hair was long and this entire thing got so bad my hair was matted, like MATTED TO HELL.
My mom had enough and we spent around 3 hours trying to fix it before we had to cave and get my dads clippers out. It was genuinely horrible. I was 3 razor strokes away from a fucking buzz cut it was that short. I felt uglier than i already did and to this day i can’t consume anything related to Amphibia because that’s what we had playing on the tv while doing this.
To this day i can’t have long hair because i know it’ll happen again.
TL;DR: it takes one second of to have some fucking empathy and be respectful. You truly do not know whats going through someones head day to day. Who cares if their hair is gross and matted, it’s better than them being dead.
I went to the dentist today to reap the consequences of my inactions and got to feel overwhelmingly embarrassed about how bad I am at such a mundane task - a task that would lessen the dentist trips that I genuinley fear
I used to think it was a lazy thing, cause thats what people would say, and normally the disapproval of others spurs me into action
But there's just this grip that depressions got on this task specifically that just wont budge
Anyway to say I saw someone post about how they have trouble taking care of their hair because of their depression and I felt really seen
I was also angered for them because they had people in their lives judge them and make them feel disgusting
I think that was my reminder that I need to take the time to be kinder to others and also myself, because depression sucks and it comes with so many obstacles that other people could imagine and its unfair to expect so much of yourself when your facing those challenges

Ok guys I love epic the musical
But i need to admit that I consume its content purely through repeatedly watching Danny Motta react to it
And its so repeatative that me and my freind have a game called who knows more where we put epic the musical on shuffle and in the first 5ish seconds she has to guess the song and I have to come up with a quote from Danny when reacting to that song
I was not a youtube person but having people react and have opinions on the shows and shit I love is peak content and I now have youtube premium because i fucking hate ads
Its just funny and its just toeing that line of - I almost cant watch it secondhand embarassment - but I havent skipped through it yet. Also he is astonishingly good at handling serious topics, like I know hes a grown adult and that shouldnt impress me but I know a lot of grown adults who have disappointed me on that front so points for Danny
Its also just really nice seeing people be so openly passionate about the things they like becuase I have always been made to feel like those things make you weird and embarassing but watching those videos made me more confident in talking about the things I like - which is actually how I met my best freind
And while more confident I would still actually cry and or die if he ever saw this, so might delete later...
So yeah, now we all know I cant like a thing a normal amount but no matter how many times he brings it up im not downloading freaking patreon - the minute i concede is when I truly become the poorest person in the house
