im more sentimental than most but i do genuinely get so emotional when i see women coming together to help each other. Even trivially emotionally logistically etc (ie in 'small' ways or not physically, not in person). i just love all manners of unification and solidarity i guess, in this sense. it's why i generally can never get too depressed with being on here. despite all the horrors that we talk about, and the complications that come from any number of people being in one place (intangible tho this one is) it is also still a community, and so even from afar there is a sense of us all facing it together. even when im reading words from women i don't know, don't follow, will likely never meet.. if you're sincere in giving me helpful information or trying to uplift or educate or question or instruct, or if you are just sharing your thoughts, in the most casual, everyday of senses - in some way i feel like you're directly speaking to me. i feel like im part of something, a bigger conversation, a collective, alongside and with other women. and im really so inspired and emboldened by that. i learn and laugh a lot. i love to see women discuss and engage and speculate and unpack - even if i might disagree with some responses or conclusions! even if they disagree with mine! it's important to me, as trite and cliche as it reads, for women to express their voices, their ideas. And it's so important to have as much female companionship and connection in your life as possible i think, to witness and encourage that. at its best, those connections can be so vital in so many ways.. enriching and enlightening and just being enjoyable...safe, fun. endlessly valuable. there's a reason why everyone against us always wants to divide and interfere and split us up. we do need each other. women need each other. being with others, with other feminist women especially, specifically...it's most often where we get our hope, our confidence, our goals, our understanding - our realisations based on shared experiences. and ofc you can still choose within that - which women make you feel good, heard, seen, appreciated. who you most want to talk to and debate with and spend more, most of your time with. who makes you laugh and helps you when you cry, and vice versa. but you can have different groups for different things, different spaces can be for what you decide. sometimes we need someone to listen, sometimes we need to be challenged, pushed, moved. whatever your choices, just make sure you find all those women, however you help each other! and then don't let anyone take that from you, don't let anyone take that from us. let's ally with each other and hold onto each other and support each other and develop each other. it's more powerful than some may realise. let's be together - even if it's just in this space, in this very moment.
