Pit & Palutena go through so much trauma already, but imagine the psychological effects if the rules of the show Gameoverse were inflicted on Kid Icarus Uprising. They're already aware they're in a game and a world that's plagued by war of gods & humans. There's not really any good neutral place to not finish the story without bad things happening in-universe, so imagine not being able to win and the consequences, knowing that there are worse consequences if the game is finished. They'd be distraught in both scenarios.

That said, knowing what happens in Chapter 9, IMAGINE KIT THINKS THE GAME IS OVER AND BRACES FOR IT TO EXPLODE xD

tangentially related to my talk on Dark Pit’s use of “this Pit” but also FASTEST way to mildly annoy me in a fanfic is for Dark Pit to call Pit “Pit-stain” as someone equivalent to “Pittoo”.

The former is an insult on the character’s name (basically middle school bullying type shit) and the other is a jab at the character’s entire existence. And I Dark Pit knows this. Think about how upset it made them—they had even asked nicely ( “please stop calling me that” ) when they were on the same side, when it was no longer derogatory. That might be why they dropped the name so quickly, they could never find something that would make Pit feel the same pain—the pain of never being more than an extension of him, as “Walmart Pit”—they felt when he called them that. Dark Pit doesn’t continue to use it after Chapter 6, while Pit uses “Pittoo” throughout the entire rest of the game. He actively ignores Dark Pit’s protests in the beginning (when he doesn’t see them as an individual) and so Dark Pit, knowing he won’t listen, stops asking for him to stop. It’s a waste of breath. So by the time Pit would acknowledge they were quote on quote real, he didn’t think it mattered anymore.

I dunno. I just think it’s worth considering. And also out of character because they don’t even say it during Chapter 13.

With enough development, "Pit-stain" can be even less than that with a closer sibling bond, in which most "insults" mean nothing at all and are just silly and lighthearted teasing. (My younger siblings are no stranger to this kind of banter. My brother, even at 19, is still a MenaceTM)

"Pittoo" is very definitely really personal however - and for fics & stories that include Palutena's Guidance, Dark Pit still wants Pit to quit saying it in something post-game. It sadly still needs to be acknowledged there.

But regardless of whether it matters anymore, I think it would be impactful for Dark Pit, Pit, and Palutena to talk about the effect of it. If Dark Pit suggests it first, the others could maybe change the meaning into something actually lighthearted (since their impression of it seems to be silly). That said, it's not a perfect fix - I wouldn't and don't stop there. In my mind, Dark Pit is practically bound to self-discovery and growing out of the old and into the new alongside the others. Kiddo deserves cool names & an identity defined by seperate experiences.

There's also Pit & Palutena learning ommission of the nickname entirely as a writing choice.

It could also phase out with time and without confrontation, but this could make them regretful with enough time to look back on things. Young teens & young adults tend not to be as wise as they could be in certain situations. Could still lead to a talk about it with Dark Pit though, if a long overdue one x)

Quite a few ways to approach this - and they're more serious in tone.

(Not any surprise I want them to talk about it. I have them experience therapy in multiple ways in AUs and headcanons xD)

"Puppet" is closer to a more personal jab to Pit. It'll make him upset (even if internally, that's a reflection of self-conflict that needs to be talked about too.) I wouldn't have Dark Pit say this too exhaustively though x)

4 years ago when my hyperfixation was off the walls rabid, I decided all of this required extensive thought in order to write something with a slow and strong arc towards Pit, Dark Pit, and Palutena becoming closer after months of time & unaddressed problems. I'm so normal about topics like this. It is indeed very important to consider ✨️

-Wears a golden bay leaf earring to speak telepathically

-She has a vendetta against Pit & Palutena for killing her master/best friend (during the time he was soulless & in the ring) and vowed to kill Pit when he grows up (she doesn't kill kids)

-Needs to be convinced revenge is not the answer (which is The Problem later on)

Foxfire - The Teumessian Fox Info

-Stuck in a paradoxical chase with Laelaps

(all above accurate to myth)

-Dark Pit nicknames him "Foxfire" (foxfires are the kind of bioluminescent mushrooms in Chapter 8 he grows with Viridi's staff to light his path as he runs from the fox. Yeah bro just takes Viridi's staff temporarily)

Vulpecula Info

-She is based on a constellation of a little fox carrying a goose (called Anser)

-Her eyes reflect the stars/galaxies

-She likes to help people by giving them silent prophecies

I always panic when Forces of Nature Dark Pit is brought up in convos and I figured out why xD

It's because I really enjoyed exploring a way to [subjectively] make it work into his ideals in headcanons & for my AU Dark Pit (and ultimately, he doesn't want to stay even after fixing the problem. My free-spirted guy)

But also I would be devastated if they gave 0 reason for him joining in a potential sequel 💔

They really just threw that idea out there unexplained and disappeared

My job to extrapolate ig. Gave it to me like a fill in the blank page 🖊
