It's no surprise that their work alias has made its rounds in this place, given how often they frequent it with the occasional success of taking someone home for the evening. There hasn't been much luck tonight, but time was still young. If they played their cards right, Harris might be their next triumph.

God. When did he become this way? When did he start caring about people, when did he start worrying about people? The person he was without Isen's influence was weak and he hated it -- was this what lie beneath the surface, deep down?

"Don't call me sunshine," he grumbled, but he didn't bat Peyton's hand away. More and more he found his voice devoid of venom, especially around his companion here, which was...strange.

They were almost tempted to test that theory, but they weren't that reckless. Only time would tell the truth and it was better not to test predictions. "Hm?" Peyton's eyebrow raised as the other trailed off. "What was that?" They pushed gently, teasing as they leaned in slightly.

Rather than let his irritation show, a corner of Isen's mouth quirked into a smile. He recognized that mask for what it was -- and while it was impressive, this game they played was Isen's, and he never lost.

Thus, he weighed his options; he could be terrifying, threatening, and risk it backfiring. Or he could pretend to play along with Peyton's demands, and win the game in the long run. For now, the latter seemed to be the best option. He tilted his head.

They've managed to survive this long without being exposed. Peyton certainly felt a sense of achievement with such a feat. It had all been a matter of trial-and-error, along with some common sense. Mistakes had been made in the beginning, but it was all apart of the growing pains.

There was a sense of fear that non-powered individuals harbored towards those who were gifted. It caused segregation and discrimination. While Peyton did not know if Isen possessed any gifts, they were faintly airing on the side of caution. They did not appreciate being cornered like this so suddenly.

The man paced around them like a wolf on the hunt. "I'm just that skilled." Trouble always had a knack of finding them, but they had been swift enough to avoid discovery.

"Enlighten me," they tracked every movement Isen made, narrowing their hazel eyes. "What could possibly be worse than death?" The ending wasn't something they feared; everyone's time came eventually.

"Yuki," he replied easily, not concerned with hiding his identity. Not when he was an ocean away from anyone who knew him, and fully capable of removing the hands of anyone who touched him. Still, his father's voice came to mind unexpectedly. Be careful how you wield your arrogance.

His father...A sharp pain stabbed into his temple, and he managed to hide it by turning to greet the bartender. Out of his pocket he fished an ID and a credit card, handing them both to the man, and ordered a whiskey sour. Then, he looked at his companion, the pain now dulled.

That name. They're positive it wasn't a rare one, there could be a dozen people with the same name in the world. Still, it rang a familiar bell that they couldn't completely ignore. Nonetheless, it was a thought to toss around later.

Peyton softly nodded in acknowledgment. The order of a whiskey sour was telling. Someone's drink order had the ability to reveal a lot about a person.

Complex. Adaptable.

It was commonly requested by first-time drinkers, something that Yuki did not strike them to be. They turned to the bartender with a wide beaming grin, "A vodka punch for me. If you could add an extra pour of vodka and pineapple, that would be absolutely swell."

As the man walked off to complete the orders, Peyton refocused on Yuki, "No offense, but this place doesn't seem like your usual scene. You're looking a little outta place here, sugar. So do you do this often? Accidentally run into someone and make up for it by buying them a drink?"

It's not everyday that someone called them out like that. A move like that showed possible potential to turn this slow night around.

Peyton couldn't help the smile that crossed across their features. Sliding off the arm of an empty lounge chair, the escort approached the stranger with a steady gait.
