i was talking about "no borders" in relation to China and even to a degree about imperialism and colonialism yesterday and it's got me thinking today: I think the problem with the way that leftists kind of fail at getting people to see their side is that we aren't very good at explaining the basics of our ideologies in a way that is at all personable or easy to comprehend and realistically envision. Sure, on paper and with all the facts and science and research we can understand it and the very privileged & educated can discuss further details with you, a leftist (assuming). But how are we supposed to actually visualize or imagine what our everyday life might look like? Many passionate leftists are terrible at describing what a day in the life of their most ideal world would look like taking into account of human error and realism; how do you expect John Smith from Alabama to be able to do that, too? If you want no border's it's not just a travel and identity level; A lot of the world is going to be changed at an entirely fundamental level. I know it's very hard to make examples and visualizations and scripts for how the future could look if a country, nevermind a whole world, would have a "no borders" policy. It takes a lot of time and effort for systems to agree on something, not even at a casual individual level. It's very easy to veer off into the problem of accidentally making what is effectively just propoganda and unrealistic expectations. But I don't see what's wrong with, taking time to consider various elements, making some sort of one act play or visualizations for people to understand?

Many of the most oppressive forces throughout history, as well as neo-nazis as a whole are very good about making up propoganda and ideal worlds and theory and rules about what their perfect worlds would look like. Whereas a lot of leftists talk about their ideal future in a ton of abstracts through poetry, artwork, with the romanticism and ambiguity of Ghibli films. In the fascist side, their constructed worlds are simply too rigid (and deeply idealist in its thirst for violence, "a fight" to make it happen) and the rigidity is plainly self-cannibalizing. There will always be people who do not deserve cruelty be inflicted with it anyway, the suffering will be never-ending even when it seems all goals have been attained. Whereas on the most un-fascist progressive side, there is a level of disconnect that almost always feels like a defeated dream spoken through the words of a martyr rather than something tangible. There's nothing else beyond the happy ending at the end of all of the shit and almost a complete refusal that conflict will always be present in some form because we are imperfect human beings. Is it possible to have like. A happy medium? What does it looks like at the end of a hard day at "work", and what work do you imagine that will be? We will always have friends and we will always have ways to kick it at the end of the day. When there are no coffee shops that exploit the work of the people that harvest the beans, how will that look? What would it look like to smoke weed with your buddies when there's no more disproportionate punishment or social ostracization at all from recreational drug use, and how does that change between people of different cultural or religious backgrounds? What conversations will we have if art is no longer commercialized? How will deeply marginalized people, like indigenous people of any continent, be able to maintain their heritage and get paid proper reparations if there are no borders, no concept of "different peoples" and we are all "one race, human race, kumbaya"? It doesn't have to be perfect, and it doesn't have to show everything all at once. It will feel different and uncomfortable and maybe even a little scary. But it needs to feel real, honest, and attainable.
