I think the biggest thing that blows my mind about the growth of AI art and the desire corporations have to use them instead of paying real people is this:
I’ve grown up going to museums and walking through antique stores. Everything we decorate with, sit or lay on, cover ourselves with, and more is art. The logos of our favorite brands? Art. Artist crafted, painted, sewed, wrote, all of these skills and more to create our prized possessions. And companies don’t want to pay them to do it because they want to hoard money for themselves.
Since the beginning of humanity we have painted, communicated, crafted, and built. Art has been named a source of human expression and is a show of the human condition. We rely on art to entertain ourselves, comfort ourselves, express ourselves.
Why are we not paying artists? Why would someone get a computer to do something that is inherently human? We’d rather program a computer to copy a human than pay a human to share their priceless inspiration and emotion? It’s sickening to me. Now more than ever, support small artists. Learn about writers wages. Share, speak, purchase if you can. Support our artists.
