am i even mentally ill or am i just living in some kind of infinite torture chamber that would make anyone like this

One major factor that makes the nature of psychiatric treatment intrinsically violent is the fact that the boundaries of the patient is considered an obstacle to treatment. The lack of consent of the patient is considered an obstacle to treatment. These obstacles are abhorred by psychiatry and considered things that much be broken down. If the patient has a disagreement with the treatment, or objects to it, this is considered a symptom and therefore is seen as something not to be validated or respected. Thoughts, behaviors, beliefs; these are all considered symptoms if they are in opposition to treatment and must be broken down. However, compliance with treatment is almost never seen as disordered or symptomatic, even if the patient is fawning or similarly complying to avoid more harm done to them. The fact that only extreme compliance is accepted by psychiatry is inherently violent and conditions people to accept abuse. Isolation and violence are not vectors of healing.

this is related to my will wood post from the other day where people will ignore someone blatantly criticizing psychiatry and then when they realize the person is antipsych they go "wait you don't actually like psychiatrists after you said you don't like psychiatrists what :("

I think the idea that mental health conditions are entirely sociological or entirely biological are both bunk. Even in a utopian society some people would experience obsessions, hallucinations, delusions, depression, anxiety, etc . BUT to suggest there is a specific biomarker and these conditions can be entirely resolved by a physiological approach is also very wrong and can cause harm via the institution of psychiatry

I might struggle to word this right atm but this called out a very primal part of me that I must address. The memories where people coerced me saying they want the best for me, and I resist and resist until I couldn’t and my mind flipped into a state where I agree to anything just for it to be over with. When I’m too cooperative, they considered me fine so I don’t need other help. Even if I had wanted help, just not the kind thrusted upon me. My stances are often pushed into a state of relativity, because I couldn’t possibly say for certain that their help wasn’t helping, I can only say I don’t want it. I can’t question them. Because I don’t know certainly. It’s like being asked to suspend your disbelief but we’re talking about reality, not fiction. In other words, it was just ways to prevent me from rejecting them, by making me doubt my awareness of reality. Once I’m loose then it’s easier to plant in any seeds that they want to grow.
