I'm playing Hamlet and this director has decided that Hamlet has to have the shit kicked out of him the entire show.
Hamlet adaptation where Horatio puts on a brave face while Hamlet is dying and then whispers his 'good night, sweet prince' and when Hamlet closes his eyes he just screams and starts wheeping
I wholeheartedly believe ppl should start saying, “But Brutus is an honorable man" instead of "I'm going to kill myself" when something inconveniencing happens
hamlet’s “i did love you once” and ophelia’s “indeed, my lord, you did make me believe so” is such an underrated gut punch. it’s betrayal it’s heartbreak it’s vulnerability it’s so over. truly no one is doing it like shakespeare

Does anyone here have a memory of a production of Hamlet that had a trough of water surrounding the stage? The only other detail I remember was that instead of having an actor play the Ghost, Hamlet would become possessed by the Ghost and speak the lines.
I remembered something else!
When Hamlet first chases after the Ghost to speak to it, he comes onstage by walking through the water.
And it was a very minimal cast. If memory serves, it was all male performers acting out the show and playing multiple parts.
Resurrecting this again because this is haunting my thoughts to the point where I feel like I hallucinated an entire production of Hamlet.
Another detail I can remember was that the backdrop was white sheets. It had the feel of almost being on a pirate ship. And I think the stage was a thrust style stage so the trough of water went around all three sides.
