But Bruce and Alfred literally believe he’s passively suicidal during DITF. There’s a panel of them talking about it.

And then it brings me to this point, one I think is more damning against Bruce than anything else.

Bruce, fully believes that Jason is at the least passively suicidal and states it as his reason for taking away Robin. He believes this when Jason goes missing. He believes this when Alfred rushes up to him, panicked, to tell him Jason is gone.

And yet he still chooses to go after the Joker.

(And before anyone comments the justice league were aware of the situation and Bruce had more than enough time and means to call somebody who could track the joker down quicker than he could, so he could find his now missing and presumed suicidal son. Yet he doesn’t.

Then the Red Hood hits Gotham like a fucking freight train. and willis keeps his distance even though he's heard good things and one night, he's loading supplies for Leslie when he sees his baby's scared face while he holds his bloody throat. Jason dealing with bruce's betrayal only to find the father that loved him till the ends if the earth still alive.

Willis holding jason gently as he gets stitched up by leslie, whispering about how brave and strong his sweet little prince is, how he missed him and he's sorry but it's alright because Papa's gonna keep him safe now, he's okay.

Just jason crying in a warbled and pained voice for his papa, clinging to willis, and willis with his son's blood on his hand cooing and kissing his boy's sweaty forehead planning hellish retribution for whoever hurt his precious baby.

i loveeee thinking about a willis who does good in crime alley after he's out of prison and you said it so perfectly. i want him despising bruce but failing so badly at it (before finding out about the batarang) because he can't help comparing himself to the other man. they both failed jason-- their child. i want him meeting bruce wayne for the first time and screaming his throat dry at him, collapsing to the floor until bruce breaks too and now they're both sobbing into each other's arms with bruce apologizing again and again. i want willis being unable to forgive him-- being so angry that a man as privileged as wayne adopted his little boy from a life of poverty and still couldn't provide him a better future. "you took my baby from me twice."

AND YES RED HOODDDD omg willis would be so proud but so so conflicted because why. why does his baby need to put himself in harm's way to save a world that doesn't and has never deserved him? BUT BABEEE HELLO??? THAT LAST BIT? devastating and BEAUTIFUL. their reunion 😭 jason thinks he's hallucinating from blood loss or that he's dead once more, finally getting to be with his daddy again.

alsoooo i see him working with jason on comms during patrol/missions and they have the cutest conversations. jason is NOT used to someone praising him this much when he's working. it's usually some belittling remark from one of the bats telling him to keep his "anger" in check or reminding him not to kill so wdymmm there's someone now constantly chatting in his ears about how smart he is?! he is NOT surprised it's his dad because willis has always been very open with his affection and praise but still. the last time bruce was like this was when he was robin.

sometimes the bats will just openly gape at him when they hear a giggle from underneath the helmet. and why is jason not paying them any attention??

like Dick was an ass at first but maybe by the end of Jason's time as Robin, and especially when Jason and Bruce started having a lot of issues (which both of them now had in common and a reason to bitch about him together), they got closer? like Dick sort of became this comfortable space Jason would go when Bruce was being shitty?

and then Jason died and Bruce didn’t tell Dick. Dick couldn't even go to his funeral. and he's too devastated and tired to fight anymore so he just distances himself from Bruce. when Tim becomes Robin, he's pissed but can't bear to get involved with Bruce and his drama again. so while he does ocassionally show up, he's still just as distant as before. so he's never around to hear them talk shit about Jason and he doesn't know of the way they're slandering his character and the false image of Jason that the younger Bats have.

Tim isn't Dick’s brother. Bruce isn't his father. and the rest of the kids aren't his problem.

so what if this Dick, who's only brother is his Little Wing, finds out the shit Tim and Bruce amd Alfred have been saying about Jason? especially Tim and Bruce. I mean, Dick has a serious temper, even though he keeps it hidden. so what if he absolutely blows up in front of all the other Bats?

and Tim tries to act all confused and baby and innocent. Tim had painted the picture for the others that even though Dick wasn't around much, he loved Tim and Tim was his favourite sibling and little brother ( satisfying his own stalker delusions from when he was a kid). which obviously wasn't true as the others come to realize when Dick is absolutely vicious. he is completely confident in saying that Jason was his only sibling and family. and while he may have been impartial to Tim before, he absolutely hates him now.

and if this happens after Jason comes back, maybe Jason was under the impression that Dick had forgotten about him and moved on as well. it wasn't like Dick was around in Gotham to correct him initially. so maybe he just believed the narrative that Tim had planted. and so when he hears Dick absolutely lose his shit on his behalf, he realizes that maybe he still has his big brother. Dick still cares about him and loves him.
