In Staff of Hermes? They had literally been dating for one month and had a cute little interaction about a one month anniversary that led to the conclusion of the day where Hermes literally sends them to Paris. Also Hermes pays for this entire date yet here the Annabeth hater is bringing up Annabeth expecting Percy to pay as a reason to hate Annabeth. Mind you when they were in Rome and they stopped on their cute little date Annabeth is the one who paid using her card that she magically inherited. They both used the gods to pay for their dates in two different books but somehow we are twisting that to be Annabeth's fault LMAO.

Annabeth is rich white girl coded? Are you perhaps talking about Rachel I take money from the poor to give to the poor while I personally enjoy my daddy millions Dare? Because while Annabeth's family is well off she rarely got to experience that as a child as she was literally homeless for a period of time and lived at a camp with barely any connection to her father between 7 and 12 years old. So how was she enjoying the rich white girl life? Please enlighten me? Also, I do love that y'all have turned Annabeth being white into a crime. You do know that the vast majority of these characters, including Percy, arw white in the books right? Funnily enough these are the same people who usually hate the casting in the show. So they really just use Annabeth's race against her (black or white) when it convenient to use it to hate her.

Percy is nervous to talk to Annabeth about their future? Well Percy planned their entire future without her input so of course he was nervous to share that information with her. And he was nervous because he wanted her to agree to it. And how did Annabeth react when he told her? She's not totally on board just yet with a plan she's only heard 2 minutes ago that would mean them leaving their entire life behind for New Rome but she still shows excitement and lets him know its a good plan and she loves that he thought of it. If Annabeth had planned their entire future without input from Percy ya'll would have called her controlling, toxic and abusive, but Percy does it and y'all still find a reason to make it Annabeth's fault while never acknowledging that Percy is a little problematic in this moment (I don't think he's problematic but if we're jusging Percy by the same exaggerated logic that you guys use to hate Annabeth then yeah, this would be a moment of him being controlling and toxic. See how that ridiculous logic works when applied to the actions of other characters?).

Also, using examples of Percy thinking Annabeth is going to hit him as a reason why Annabeth is bad is always so amusing because she LITERALLY never hits him when he thinks that. That's just Percys way of speaking because he usually says these things right after he says, does or is about to do something stupid. Percy is NEVER shown to be scared of Annabeth in any of these moments and it's clear he's just using that language "cheekily". It's insane that you guys focus on Percy saying he thought he was about to get hit (and he says it with no fear, just amusement) instead of what actually happens in the scene which usually never involves Annabeth hitting him and mostly involves her either laughing or something else normal.

Annabeth uses knowledge as a weapon of power? Or maybe they're two friends who tease each other? How is this any different than Percy making a crude joke about wishing Annabeth had died in TLT or mocking her intelligence in botl (he wasn't even joking with this one, he was just being mean yet it never gets used to call him toxic and cruel) or sarcastically asking her if she can breathe under water in tlo? Or any of the times he's uses his water powers against her to have himself a little laugh? They're all jokes. Percy can joke but Annabeth can't? The misogyny is reeking.

She blamed him for disappearing? Uh, no it's a moment of grief where she's literally scared and speaks irrationally. You're not meant to think Annabeth is being rational in that moment. Even Percy does not. Couple reunites and one of them irrationally says "if you ever leave me again...." It's actually a very normal romantic trope that you guys have twisted beyond comprehension to fit your hate filled narrative again. We're literally in her head for this moment and throughout the books. It's made very clear that she blames Hera for Percy going missing. Not to mention Percy also says that he had to apologize to Sally for disappearing. Does that mean Sally is abusive or do people sometimes apologize if something is hurting someone they care about even if everyone including the people they care about know it's not their fault.

they find so many really stupid reasons to why it's bad and in doing so they reduce Annabeth's character down, act purposefully obtuse to a lot of her actions and her reasonings behind her actions, and fault for her very human and understandable emotions. just because Annabeth is SHOWN to be mature and smart, and just cause she's the daughter of wisdom and might act like a typical know-it-all on the surface, does not erase the fact that she's still a human, a teenager no less.

they point out different stuff as if they would give half a flying fuck if it was a man in her place instead, and I've seen my fair share of stupid posts whacking Percy for rlly dumb reasons but a lot of these posts focus on Annabeth and so many of them are clearly reaching and forced as helll

and idk people need to realize that they do not need a reason to not like something, specficially something fictional. you don't like a ship? a character? a plot point? an ending? good for you, you don't need to defend yourself on that stance.

but if you DO decide to back up your opinion with a reasoning or argument, and it's based off of the canon material, at least make sure it's correct and valid??

things that might not slide in your worldview, absolutely will in a fictional world with fcking demigods?? you can't always go off your own personal values when pinning characters actions down and labelling them as badd (that specifically referring the the 'abuse' allegations shit with the whole judo flip girl do not pmo)
