Both Hazel Levesque and Thomas Jefferson Jr. have slave relatives. For Hazel, it was her grandmother and for T.J, it’s his mother, which is a hard thing to manage when writing novels set in the twenty-first century. But with all the magic Riordan has under his sleeve, it’s unsurprising, especially after his Heores of Olympus series where he began dumping diversity into the characters by the truck load.

Both Grover Underwood and Sam al-Abbas have career goals by the time they meet their main character. Grover wants his searcher’s license and Sam wants to be a part of the sisterhood, showing that Riordan writes ambitious characters. 

The Hunter’s of Artemis are very similar to the sisterhood shown in Sword of Summer. It was very progressive of Rick Riordan to have two groups of kickass women who work to help save others.

Both Percy Jackson and Magnus Chase both had strange births, following the heroes archetype made by Jung and Campbell. Both born from gods, Percy was concieved in, the earliest late May, and then born in August (plot hole) and Magnus was born in July to a mother that caught the eye of a god.

Both the Magnus Chase series and the Peculiar series by Ransom Riggs have wights. They are much more prominent in Jacob Portman's world, but there is a possiblity that they are in the same universe. 

So, we must ask outselves three questions, why does Riordan consider training a game and why would he make the only way for it to be safe if you’re already dead? Is it a metaphor or is he just trying to write good literature?

Did Riordan and the MCU get the same idea? And did they know it was popular, Google Trends?

Mother’s of Riordan’s heroes often know before their children about the magic side of the world. Natalie Chase and Sally Jackson tried to prepare their sons for the supernatural side of the world. Ms. Chase read Norse mythology books to her son while he was little, srilling into his head the friends and foes of his future at a young age. Ms. Jackson gave Percy one of the most repeated peices of advice other than a prophecy before she was kidnapped by Hades. She said, “When he sees us, he’ll charge. Wait until the last second, then jump out of the wat- directly sideways. He can’t change directions very well once he’s charging. Do you understand?” (51, The Lightning Thief). The line would be used for some many diverse enemies in Percy’s future, that it quite literally saved his life countless times. 

Both Magnus Chase and Chiron from Percy Jackson and the Olympians have heard of Frank Sinatra, so does that make Rick Riordan a fan or a hater?

The first time both Percy Jackson and Magnus Chase use their abilities, they are unaware of doing soon, or even how they do it. However, those around them know exactly what has occured. Chiron sees immediately after the water pulls Nancy into the water that Percy is a demigod, at the very least, a child of Posidean at the most.  One of the men Magnus is fighting with recognized the move as one of Frey’s, before killing him. Luckily, Magnus was in Vahalla, so he had a quick visit with Loki before coming back to life. 

In the fanon of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, Thor is know to have a love for poptarts, as it appears in fanart to fanfiction. Inside Rick Riordan’s The Sword of the Summer, Loki is shown to have a love for the same breakfast item. Could the MCU be where Riordan found his inspiration? Or is it merely coencidence. 

In The Sword of Summer, Loki, in dream form, is potrayed as being near the hearth, similar to Hestia in The Last Olympian. This could mean that Loki is a god of fire or the hearth. Or it could mean nothing. But it is interesting that most gods are potrayed as having fire for eyes.

In The House of Hades it is made clear that traveling through Tartarus drains power of the demigods who get trapped there. When is similar to when Magnus and his friends travel through the tree of life. It drains both Blitzen and Hearthstone’s powers, so it may be possible that these two places drain ability from opposite species. 

Grover and the duo Blitzen and Heathstone are protectors of some of the worlds greatest heroes. Sam also technically in this role, but she and Grover are closer to the friend spectrum than the other two.
