So, life's not been great, but in case someone was interested in the amigurumi I was crocheting when I made this post, beware! The final result!!! Husband included

They're Misery and Lowe, the main characters of "Bride" by Ali Hazelwood. I was mostly excited about the coloured eyes and blushes, not gonna lie, but I think the end result was really really cute. I'm especially proud of how Misery's hair turned out

This year I decided I needed a challenge, so I'm trying to design a new amigurumi each month. I have a loooong list of characters I want to crochet, and this month I decided on the protagonists of Bride, by Ali Hazelwood. I've read almost every book of Ali and Bride was one of my favourites from last year. The protagonists are a vampire and a werewolf. The vampire has lilac eyes and blood, which means she blushes lilac. And the werewolf has green eyes and blood, so he blushes green. I know it's silly, but you have no idea how excited I am about using colourful eyes and painting their little faces with lilac and green

Right now I'm working on the vampire, Misery. I started last night because I've been swamped with other projects and... well, life and its usual chores. However, I think I'm making great progress and this is how the body looks at this point

The book opens with the protagonists' wedding (which is an arranged one, btw, to try and bring peace between the two species). Misery wears a white jumpsuit. At first I was worried it would look dull because I don't have that much space to work with, but I'm really happy with how it's going! There's some details still missing, but I've been working on this for two evenings only, so this is great progress

Tbh the roadblock was starting. I struggle a lot with this. Sitting down, looking for inspiration, sketching, writing down some instructions and ideas, looking for the perfect colours... I had that done for two weeks now, but actual crocheting? Not so easy. Luckily that's in the past now lol but I know I will struggle again when it's time to embroider the face and start the hair (I usually wing it while stressing over it not looking exactly how I imagined, which is awful but I can't help it)

Well, we'll push through. Or as I like to say: we've come here to play (in Spanish though, I don't speak randomly in English at home 😂)

And that's all. I have other projects still in the making but none of them were particularly interesting or advanced enough

So this year I made the resolution of designing a new amigurumi each month. I'm honestly a slow crocheter and I spend most of time unmotivated unless I hit a burst of dopamine, so I thought trying to get the habit of at least crocheting one amigurumi per month could be beneficial for me. It's not an unrealistic resolution and I have plenty of amigurumis on my to do list, so let's cross fingers and hope that I can push through.

The amigurumi of January is Poppy from the Blood and Ash series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. It's actually a commission for a good friend, but since we've been reading this series together for four years now, the moment I have a bit of time I'll crochet my own Poppy.
