um i do not think that CLAMP had a personal hand in making the choice of who played Fai in english, and even if they did i do not think choosing an obviously awful VA both in terms of character fit and as a person is better explained by them doing insane conspiracy shit to their own work (why be so underhanded if they're pulling the strings?) rather than him being stupid popular circa the TRC anime's release. especially because i was there, at the time, and things like World Chronicle with the infamously homosexual-coded "bet" left hanging + the actual end of TRC kurofai's arc culminating in the whole reclamation of the daddy nickname which, like, come on + later publications like the more in-your-face douwata & even legal drug reboot (which is, of course as you know, also jotakak expy territory! which kurofai share a lineage with!)... i see no reason why CLAMP are like suppressing homosexual subtext for this one ship and not the others.

I know a lot of things due to reading ex-member's rare works that is why I know why CLAMP is thinking about things like breaking KuroFai, but I think it is obvious that both Terada and Kaito are positioned as antagonists as ex-members have already rehearsed Terada as an antagonist earlier like in Leeza Sei's Phantom Cognition and CLAMP had already made Terada controversial and hated.

i'm gonna respond once from my main instead of the minecraft blog i happened to post this screenshot from originally and then i will block you in the morning. but it feels worth pointing out that similarities btwn the works of ex-members and current-day clamp members, especially when those ex-members have been separated for decades, could not possibly give you more information about the current-day plans of clamp.

this is the most incomprehensibly funny thing I’ve ever seen but also I had to know why and there are more
