Alternative Facts no.2 ~ The NRA is pushing The Hearing Protection Act; in which they want to make silencers ‘easily’ and widely available, to protect the hearing of shooters. Apparently, regular ear protection gets in the way of the fun. Police organizations are not a fan of silencers, nor would anyone caught in a random shooting situation (hardly going to decide to duck or run when you think it’s just a car backfiring in the distance). On the other hand, the use of headphones on a regular basis, at a level higher than 60db, does the same damage as repeated shooting of a gun without protective gear. Statistically in the US, 1 in 5 teens can’t hear rustles or whispers. Personally it strikes me as a money grab...and a dangerous one at that.
