fully believe steve is so cuddly and affectionate that whenever it's time to go to bed and eddie is still up doing things bc his brain can't shut off, steve pouts and wheedles him into getting into bed with him like "guess ill just lay here, alone and cold, by myself with no warm boyfriend to snuggle up to me :(" and eddie finally gives in like "okay, alright! i get it, you need a big warm guy to squeeze you" while crawling into bed and immediately arranging steve the way they both like while steve is all smug and giggling, eddie play grumbles at him for being so smiley, but he can't help letting it melt away into a soft love-sick look when steve tucks his head up on his chest to listen to his heartbeat and nuzzles into him
Steve’s got one arm hooked around the diaper bag, the other trying to wrestle his wallet out of his back pocket like it personally offended him.
“Hang on—hang on—just—” he mutters, twisting awkwardly, nearly dropping a bottle in the process.
Stella, all of a few months old, is tucked against his chest, making small, confused baby noises as she gets jostled around like carry-on luggage.
Eddie, hovering nearby, watches this whole disaster unfold for about five seconds before stepping in.
“Uh… do you need help?”
Steve doesn’t even look at him.
“Yeah—yeah, actually—here—”
And just like that, Stella is transferred.
No warning. No instructions. Just baby.
Eddie freezes.
Because now he is holding a human.
A very small human. A very fragile human. Steve's Very small, Very fragile human.
“…okay,” he says slowly, like someone just handed him a live grenade. “Cool. Cool, cool, cool.”
He looks down.
Stella looks up.
They both go completely still.
She blinks at him. Big brown eyes. Tiny scrunched face.
Eddie blinks back. Wide-eyed. Equally scrunched.
“…hi,” he whispers.
Stella continues staring, her expression deeply serious, like she’s trying to figure out what kind of creature he is.
Eddie, long hair falling in his face, leather jacket, rings, band tee, clearly not something Stella's ever seen in her limited life experience.
“…I don’t know what I am either,” he explains, as if that helps.
Stella’s mouth opens slightly.
Eddie mirrors her. Not on purpose. It just… happens.
They sit there like that. Matching expressions. Same level of confusion. Same energy.
Steve finally frees his wallet, straightens up, and turns around and just stops.
Because there they are.
Eddie, holding Stella like she might explode.
Stella, staring at Eddie like he might.
Same face. Same blank, bewildered look.
“…wow,” Steve says, trying very hard not to laugh. “You guys look like you’re having the exact same thought.”
Eddie doesn’t break eye contact with her.
“I think she’s judging me.”
Steve snorts. “She does that.”
Stella lets out a tiny noise, somewhere between a coo and a squeak.
Eddie immediately nods, dead serious.
“Yeah. That’s fair.”
Steve steps closer, gently taking her back, still grinning.
“Congrats. She didn’t cry. That means she likes you.”
Eddie finally exhales, like he’s been holding his breath the entire time.
“…I think we just bonded.”
Stella, now back in Steve’s arms, continues staring at Eddie over his shoulder. Still confused.
EDDIE AND A BABY!!!!!!
Eddie trying to distance himself from the group after the UD because he doesn’t want people trying to be nice to him just because they saved the world together. And then Steve shows up at his door like “you think you’re getting out of paying your child support that easy??”
Modern AU where Eddie rides a little viral moment into a music career, becomes one of the biggest acts in music...and now he's being trolled online.
There is a guy across social media platforms who comments under everything Eddie posts with a little 'Eddie Munson Fun Fact.'
It's very annoying because these facts range between mundane to embarrassing, and they're all true. This is clearly someone who is from Hawkins and went to school with him but Eddie has no idea who it could be.
Their profile picture is a poorly made ice cream cone and all their non-Eddie related posts are about StarCourt Mall conspiracies.
He'll post a little thank you to the fans or give updates on show dates, and without fail, Ice Cream Guy is there like, Fun Fact: Eddie Munson is a three time senior.
Fun Fact: Eddie Munson fell off a cafeteria table into a trash can once.
Fun Fact: Eddie Munson is a String. Cheese. Hater.
This guy is trying to get him canceled by Big Cheese.
Eddie's label hates him but his fans like him so Eddie kinda just deals with it because the engagement is good.
And then Eddie comes out.
He lets the whole world know he likes men and Ice Cream Guy is the first to comment under the post like, Fun Fact: I knew it.
Followed by: Fun Fact: Eddie Munson has a crush on me.
Eddie comments back: Prove it
Ice Cream Guy replies: Fun Fact: Ask me on a date first, freak
Eddie replies: How would I know it's you if I don't know who you are??
Ice Cream Guy says: You'll know.
Eddie's fan eat this up. They start bringing ice cream to his shows. They start making ice cream themed fan merch. They're drawing NSFW fan art of Eddie with a sentient ice cream cone.
Nothing really comes from this interaction and hype died down until one day, Eddie posts a photo of him and Steve 'The Hair' Harrington with the caption, Fun Fact: He was right.

Steve is excellent at molding himself perfectly to his partners interests when he is in a relationship. With Nancy he read every single article of the school newspaper she wrote. Movies nights were either filled with Tom Cruise (not that Steve minded that much) or documentaries he tried to be interested in. Once he suggested they'd watch an episode of Star Trek together but when she said "I really want to watch this documentary" he had relented.
It's the same with every girlfriend or fling afterwards. They get to pick the movie, the music, the dinner, the activities. Or more accurately Steve picks exactly what they like because they seem to expect it. He shows up to Sarah's piano recital and watches Heidi's cheer practice. He let's Jenna eject his Tears for Fears tape with a frown and put on some Ska instead. And when Chloe really, really wants to go out for milkshakes he pretends like ice cream doesn't make him want to throw up after Starcourt. Not a single one of them ever shows up at his basketball games or his swim meets.
Love means sacrifice and putting yourself second. At least when you're Steve Harrington.
So when Steve starts dating Eddie he doesn't expect anything else. It's not as bad though as with some previous dates. It's nice to listen to Eddie go on a long ramble about the history of metal. He likes to sit in during the DnD games, flicking through a magazine while Eddie and the kids play. And sure he is not the biggest fan of horror movies but it's a nice excuse to cuddle up with Eddie during movie night. Not that he would need an excuse, Eddie is incredibly tactile.
Steve is in the middle of a little league baseball game when things change. He is so focused on coaching his team he doesn't notice the mop of black curls in the audience at first. Only when his little team has their first home run and an eardrum shattering whistle comes from the bleachers, Steve turns and is surprised to find Eddie in the audience, smiling, cheering, hollering.
When he spots Steve looking at him he waves at him with an even bigger smile. During a brief water break Steve jogs over to the bleachers.
"What are you doing here?" he asks, still surprised that Eddie is here.
"Came to support my boyfriend and his team, of course," Eddie grins. If they weren't in public, Steve would steal a kiss right now. Eddie very much loathes sports and yet he still came.
Once the game is over Eddie drives both of them home. When he turns on the tape player, Steve very much expects the usual metal to come out of the speakers. Instead he is met with the familiar voice of Duran Duran. He expects Eddie to change the tape but he just lets it play. After Duran Duran there is a Judas Priest song and maybe the Duran Duran just got on there by accident. But after Judas Priest Hall and Oates plays and Eddie even hums along? No complaints, no berating Steve for his horrible taste in music, but fucking humming along?
"Did you…did you make this?" Steve asks, trying to wrap his head around what is happening.
"Yeah, thought this way we can both listen to stuff we like," Eddie smiles and laces their hands together. "But I also got some Bowie and and Queen tapes if you want something else."
It's the few musicians they can agree on. But Steve shakes his head.
"No, I like it. Leave it."
When they get to their small but comfy new home Eddie dashes upstairs to take a shower and tells Steve to pick a movie from the few he rented earlier.
The first one is Rosemary's Baby. Of course Eddie picked a horror movie. But then the next tape surprises Steve yet again. It's Back to the Future and the one after that is Star Wars there even is Top Gun. And Night of the Living Dead. A perfect mixture really.
When Eddie comes back from his shower Steve is still staring at the movies a frown on his face.
"You alright, Steveheart?"
"You know you don't have to do this," Steve says slowly. "Pretend you want to watch something I like. Or listen to my music. I don't want you to pretend."
Eddie walks over, wet hair dripping onto the floor. He presses a kiss to Steve's cheek and takes Top Gun out of his hand.
"I'm not pretending," he says and walks over to their TV. "I want to watch stuff you like. The same way you agree to sometimes watch stuff that I like. That's how it works, doesn't it? We compromise."
Steve blinks. Compromise. No ones ever really wanted to compromise with him. No one ever cared enough.
"Why?" he asks and sits down on the couch.
"Because I love you. And I want to know about the things you love. The same way I want to hear about your day or how your run went, if you liked your green smoothie this morning," Eddie says and sits down on the sofa too, pulling Steve into his arms.
And maybe it's taken him 22 years to learn. But finally Steve realizes that love is not putting others always first. Love is to meet in the middle. Love is to care, and to compromise and to share.
He's never felt so loved like when the intro to Top Gun starts playing.
Steddie drawing for funsies 🥹
I imagine they are posing for a photo that Robin is taking
I had the thought that if you’re a nerd who gets asked out as a joke by a popular kid the best way to handle that situation is to be incredibly rude. “What ew no!!” in front of all their friends and then they have to live with the shame of getting shot down by a weird kid. And then I realized Eddie would 100% do this.
@strangersteddierthings wait what if this kind of. makes Eddie cool. Guys who used to bully him are coming up to slap him on the back like “damn you humiliated Harrington, didn’t think you had it in you, that was pretty awesome” and he starts to realize he might’ve messed up.
I think Eddie should realize he has a crush on Steve and fully flee to Indy in the middle of the night for a week about it. No word to anyone they think he’s gone missing but he’s just panicking about how on EARTH he’s gonna hide this

Eddie is only allowed to stroke the hair just above Steve's nape. Not the sides, not the top, and definitely not the front. But that little scruff at the back is free real estate for Eddie's grabby hands.
I always imagine Eddie sitting on the top of the backrest while Steve is bracketed by Eddie's knees on the couch. He'll take those short tufts and plait them, rake his fingers through them, get a grip on them and pull Steve's head back for a spiderman kiss. If he inches any higher, or wider, where product has been specially placed, Steve is quick to get away and bat those mitts off.
After learning that Eddie takes as much pride in Steve's hair as Steve himself (they are The Hair Queens, after all), there's enough trust for Eddie to do whatever the fuck he wants with it once it's been styled.
Just to boast, Eddie once took hold of Steve's shoulders, said to the Party, "Would he let any of you do this?", and proceeded to ruffle the shit out of Steve's hair until it became a tall nest caked in product that made it clump and stand on end. All Steve has to say is, "Fix it," before Eddie goes into full ape-mode and meticulously resculpts the Harrington Hair. Steve really fucking likes the attention, standing like a pompous poodle going for its bi-monthly groom. Likes the way Eddie circles him as he gently plucks and preens at his hair. He'll usually dust off his sweaters at the end, too. Getting him all show-ready.
let’s be real the pressure to use AI as an adult is exactly what they said the pressure the do drugs as a teenager would be like but the people that told us that caved immediately for the AI and definitely did not just say no
No sorry it’s still crazy to me that Jason and his guys thought DnD makes people violent but they were the ones not shy about. Physically attacking a little girl. Like yes obviously WE know Erica is 100% capable of defending herself but that’s an 11 year old child and you’re almost adults? Even IF Eddie had actually been guilty of murder that wouldn’t have been the move
One of my favorite fantasies is Hawkins finding out about that and his excessive religious things and being like
'Oh. We were duped by a crazy person. He's one of those freaks standing on a corner yelling about god and the apocalypse. Fucking shit. Oh my God he probably killed his girlfriend! Religious nutjobs love killing women.
....we owe Munson a gift basket'
Almost overnight Eddie’s on the receiving end of a bunch of church ladies and middle-aged conservative small town men constantly trying to apologize to him. Suddenly people coo over him as a VICTIM of a crime and he’s getting the benefit of the doubt and being called “such a nice boy” and it’s. Crazy. This is what all those popular guys have been getting their whole lives no wonder they became assholes!
people in books and tv shows are always getting so upset they throw an untouched meal in the trash. that would never be me. i'd receive the worst news of my life and still be like Let me put this in the fridge.
I do really love the concept of. Eddie’s trauma manifesting way more as “I’m afraid of becoming like my father” then “I’m afraid other people will hurt me like that”. Walks on eggshells not because he’s afraid of getting hurt but because he’s terrified of hurting someone else.
And yeah obviously this manifests in his relationship with Steve and not wanting it to be like his parents but I think it’s more fun to examine with the kids. Never lets himself lose it in front of them because he remembers being so scared of his dad’s temper.

Shovel Talk(s) Final Part
Part One 🦇Part Two🦇Part Three🦇Part Four
Steve starts with Dustin. Not for any particular reason. Dustin is just the first person he ends up seeing after an entire weekend spent at Eddie's house. They'd redone their date in Indy on Saturday, getting back into Hawkins late, so Steve stayed the night. He had a morning shift at Family Video but it was Robin's day off so he didn't see her.
Dustin called at 11:00am on Monday to ask for Steve's assistance with his bike's flat tire. He needs a ride to Melvald's for a new tire tube and pump, and since Steve's shift doesn't start until 2:00pm he agrees.
Steve picks him up and listens to him ramble about his weekend and how he the tube got a hole in it. He stays in the car while Dustin runs inside to make his purchases, and then they're back at Dustin's house. Dustin knows how to change out the tube on his bike; he's been raised by a single mother for longer than Steve's known him so he's pretty self-sufficient, but Steve still offers to do it and Dustin lets him.
It's little moments like these that really let Steve feel like Dustin's brother. Which is what makes it easier for Steve to say, as he is peeling the tube from inside the tire out, "hey, do you remember a week or so ago, when you said we were happy for Eddie and me?"
"Yeah," Dustin says as he's ripping open the package the new tube is in.
"You also told me to not hurt him. I- why'd you say that?" Steve halts his progress on peeling the tube out to look up at Dustin.
He watches as Dustin turns sheepish, "I. Well, mostly I said it so that when I talk to Eddie, I might feel less bad about threatening him."
"What? Why did you threaten him?"
Dustin finishes freeing the new tube from its prison before finally looking back at Steve, "I haven't yet. Mike was talking about how Nancy gave you a shovel talk a while ago, as Eddie's 'best friend'," he makes air quotes around the words, "and I'm your best friend, so I have to give Eddie one. But Eddie's also my friend, so I had to say something to you, too."
"That's so-" Steve cuts off, because he was going to say that's so childish but Dustin should be allowed to be childish just a little longer. Part of his childhood was stolen by monsters and Steve can give him a little bit back, "that's a nice thought but please don't shovel talk Eddie. Besides, Erica beat you to it."
"Shit!"
"Language."
"Well, since Erica did it there's really no point in me doing it. She's terrifying when she wants to be."
Steve laughs because Erica can be terrifying. "Give me the tube, or do you want to finish this?"
"No, continue," Dustin thrusts the tube at Steve, who takes it with a grin and gets back to work.
Shovel Talk(s) Part 3
Part One 🦇Part Two🦇Part Three🦇Part Four
Steve wants to be self-sabotaging. He wants to give Eddie a reason to break up with him. To end this before Steve ends up hurting him. Yet he's also helplessly in love, so instead of being ten minutes late for their date, he's fifteen minutes early.
He forgot he was going to just honk the horn until Eddie appeared and only remembers he was going to do it after he's already knocked on the front door. Eddie answers, looking as beautiful as ever even though he wore that shirt yesterday, but the jeans are clean, and his hair is brushed. Steve does manage to hold himself back from opening the passenger door for Eddie like he usually does, instead sliding himself into the driver's seat.
Eddie does shoot him a curious glance but Steve's careful about not looking at him as he starts the car and heads towards the bowling alley.
Jonathan, Nancy, Argyle, and Robin are also at the bowling alley. It's not exactly a coincidence they run into them because Steve knew they would be here. (Sabotage was the goal. Turning their three-month-aversary into a group hangout might do the trick.) But Eddie likes bowling, and their friends, and also seems to be using the group atmosphere to hang off of Steve more than he would if they were bowling just the two of them.
And if Steve's being honest with himself, part of him knew that would happen, too. That Eddie wouldn't mind the group because their friends cover for them wordlessly. Eddie wraps his arms around Steve and suddenly Jonathan is standing between them and anyone who could see. Eddie leans in to give him a quick cheek kiss and Robin is at Steve's other side doing the same thing. Argyle and Nancy spread out across the seating, leaving barely enough room for Eddie and Steve to sit, so their close proximity looks forced rather than wanted.
And Steve's bad at not wanting Eddie. He finds himself reaching out and having to snatch his hands back. He plays hot and cold all night and it does have the desired effect. He can see Eddie's patience waning, can feel a shift in their dynamic and his stomach twists with shame.
He keeps conversation with Robin, and Jonathan, and Nancy, and Argyle. But not Eddie. He doesn't outright ignore Eddie, though. When Eddie talks to him, he answers but he doesn't initiate conversation. Uses as few words as possible to answer before rushing to take his turn.
He should apologize.
He can't say anything.
He's in love with Eddie, so Eddie has to leave him.
He's in love with Eddie, so Eddie leaving will ruin him forever.
Eddie should hate him, so this would be easier.
Eddie should love him, so this would be easier.
Steve's a goddamn mess all night, and no one calls him on it.
Why would they? They think he's going to hurt Eddie anyway.
