not all ships are For wanting them to be in a happy healthy relationship together. sometimes shipping two characters means you want them to be erotically obsessed with each other and become entwined in a mutually toxic love affair for a few months and then horrifically break each other's hearts and never speak again. sometimes you want them to be codependent best friends with enough repression to explode a submarine who only make out/have sex when they're at their worst. sometimes you want them to pine after each other for years, never say anything, and then die. sometimes you want them to kill each other. this, too, is shipping

like it must be a Known thing on Liberty Avenue that Brian and Justin are together, right? If Brian Kinney is a legend to the gays of Pittsburgh then Justin must also be a legend in his own right, because he was the Twink who landed him. But of course this guy who's new in town wouldn't necessarily know that, so I'm just imagining the juiciness of Brian being like No. Justin Taylor can't be on the list. without admitting that they were in a relationship. like either Brian has to admit in some strained way 'he's my ex' (which Brian can't bring himself to do) or Brandon assumes that Brian is objecting because Justin already turned Brian down, so insists that Taylor has to be on the list, are you objecting because you know he wouldn't have you? and then Brian locks himself into a trap. And he probably tries to warn Justin not to sleep with Brandon but he can't admit he's engaged in this childish bet (and knows Justin would find it gross) and Justin's like whatever I'm not haunting Babylon anymore like you because I'm husband hunting. so Brandon overhears this and pretends to be interested in Justin to Date and having conversations with him and whatnot. Meanwhile Brian is Seething because he can't tell Justin that Brandon is full of shit without revealing his own culpability. and also Justin figures out that Brian is jealous for some reason and so he plays up pretending to be wooed by new guy even though he's not actually into him. All so Brian will swoop in and claim him on the dance floor even though when the dance is over nothing has changed and Justin still wants what he wants. but Brian admits "I'll never stop wanting you" and Justin can't help but kiss him. and they're both like One last fuck will cure me, even though they both are lying to themselves. and then Brian won't even use it for the bet because he's too noble and so he's ready to admit defeat... but then Justin saunters in and sits on his lap and is like yeah I did him (because he somehow finds out about the bet through Ted? and decides Brian deserves punishment of a different kind)...

the natural lifespan of a fandom is unlimited. when well tended a fandom can be functionally immortal. and yet everywhere you look you see newly bred fandoms withering and dying when they’re barely a year old. barely even six months old. fans are looking at their six month old fandoms and saying i think it’s on its last legs, should i euthanise it? when with the proper care that fandom could outlive them for decades. it’s sad. sad state of affairs we’re in.
