Le Jardin Sauvage

Many interpretation of Neon Genesis Evangelion depict Hikari Shinji as the representation of many human weaknesses. He is an anti-hero that suffers depression and many psychological disorders. During the entirety of EVA, Shinji-kun’s scars are reopened and his fears are deepened by his piloting the Evangelion and meeting his father. Hikari Shinji-kun’s plotline is an endless self-reflexion characterized by oppressive and destructive thoughts. During the series his scars and insecurities deepen to a point where all his emotion are paroxismal and driven to extremes. Given the emphasis on Shinji-kun’s psychological state, some episodes are entirely introspective and will only happen in his mind.  Shinji-kun’s scars are common, but are far too numerous and drastic. After watching the original anime series, I have found myself immersed in it’s depth and heavy psychological dimension. Shinji-kun is an amazing creation and someday I wish I can thoroughly study his case. From his overall lassitude and insecurity to the way he shuts himself to the world to escape his fears, Shinji-kun is the embodiment of a scarred soul I could relate to in many ways. He’s here to remind you that you are not alone. He is a precious character :) I’ll try to draw him more often…
