This wasn’t the way things were supposed to go and even you could tell.

The masked man, who’d taken you almost four? Maybe five months ago, had come down and simply set down a plate of food on the black comforter of the bed and grunted at you.

Brown eyes gazed at you through the skull balaclava, as he leaned against the wall. You shifted, before reluctantly taking a bite of the sandwich.

He observed you as you ate, making sure you ate every last bite, which of course you did now. Last time you’d refused, he’d practically held you down and shoved the food down your throat.

You sipped slowly on the glass of water, all too aware of the scalding gaze on you.

Once the masked man was sure that’d you eaten and drank the whole glass of water, he slipped back upstairs, taking the plate with him, once more leaving you alone.

You sat on the bed, wondering why he cared so much about you eating and drinking water. A nagging at the back of your head told you it was better than what it could have been.
