Question: Will you remake the AU with the new things from the game? Like, I like the idea, but the ships, and the changes like Baby Long Legs becoming Ollie, etc., I don't like it at all. I mean, how come almost all the Smiling Critters bigger bodies are anthropomorphic? Honestly, I'd like it to just be deleted, and for Catnap/Theodore to suffer for his actions so he can redeem himself.
Hi! So, I'm going to answer just to this ask, but what I am going to say is for ALL the people that have sent me messages, either on AO3 or Tumblr, asking me to change things. So! Anon!
I see you must be quite new to fandom, or far too used to TikTok and Twitter's unruly rudeness and unpoliteness. You come into my house, eat the food I offered you out of my own goodwill, and yet you dare to disrespect it all? If you do not enjoy someone's AU, you absolutely do NOT go into their ask box, hide under anon - to which I prefer to ALWAYS allow anons to be here, because I know some people are extremely shy (hi! I'm one of those!) and anon gives them some safety -, then demand changes to the person's AU as if you are entitled to it.
Normally, when you dislike something as much as you are shown to dislike, you either express said opinion when the very real fandom member asks for it, share it with your friends, or keep it to yourself. Even better: You block the blog! But if you really enjoy said person's AU and fandom work you will have to deal with the fact their AU is not 100% coined to your own personal likings. You must get used to the fact that not everything will catter to your specific tastes, and sometimes you will dislike some aspects of a work and will merely have to live with it while still enjoying said work.
What you did here not only was rude, but you talk to me as if I am a fellow fandom member of an actual original game called Poppy Worldwide, as it opposed to being an AU that I made in order to have fun. I am not a content creator, much less a micro celebrity from the Tumblr Poppy Playtime fandom that is completely disconnected from you. I am - quite literally - just a random guy. If you would never in your life walk into a stranger on the street and say this kind of thing to their face, you DO NOT do that on fandom and internet spaces, either!
Every single post you have seen on this fandom was made by just another person, just another guy. By all means and accounts you could have come accross an artist you really like while grocery shopping the other day, and you never will know it because apparently people have forgotten that all the random people you follow on the web are just people! It is NOT hard to realize that you are talking with another guy as opposed to Visconde, the Entity That Commands The Blog Called hiwelcometothemonstersanctuary.
You forgot fandom etiquette, you forgot that you are an entire person who can make YOUR OWN AU with things that YOU personally enjoy (because yes! You can do it! You don't need to draw good or write good, you can just do it and be silly! There are no rules! Stop thinking you cannot create, only consume!), and you somehow parasocialized me!
Attitudes and behaviors like this are WHY fandom spaces nowadays feel so hostile - not that they were the most peaceful ones before, either, but it seems things got wackier since the pandemic, and NOT in a good way. I would like to not be alienated from my own space on this website by people who feel entitled to content as opposed to sharing a space.
I am not your machine to make you happy, and if a single discomforting thing is enough for you to be this rude, then mayhaps you should leave the web for a little while and come back when you learn to treat others better even when they do things you dislike with their own AUs.
