“I’m sorry to hear about that, man.” Ferris sighed upon hearing Phillip’s words. “He really needs to realize that this isn’t the ‘dark ages’ anymore. People don’t like it when parents pick up their dates.” He himself let out a small nervous chuckle as he scratched his head a bit upon hearing the question. “No, not really… He still is pretty upset with me.” He lightly put it. “We haven’t talked much since he kicked me out.”

Adam’s shoulders rose and fell for a moment before he let out a breath. “Well, sounds like we’re going to be working together for a while then.” He offered. “Just means we’ll have to build more buildings around this town. Help it grow a bit.” 

“Hm, I suppose, but I believe my reputation of being a bit of an ass has followed me into this town. My own fault really, not that I’m that bothered by it.” He commented. “I guess I just figured you’d get out a bit more.” 

“I didn’t say that– I said I’d ask others,” Aurora retorted quickly, nearly choking in surprise when he thought she was offering herself. “Do you not hear me? Am I just talking to a wall? Or is this you trying to imply you want me to offer myself as your date? Because that’s a hard pass.”

“Pretty much. Although, I have to admit that I would’ve assumed you’d have a little more going on that I.” He commented. 

“I don’t know, man, it sure feels like I do.” Peter softly chuckled and then cleared his throat, become more sincere. “But in all honestly, it’s pretty nice that you take care of your brother like that. Seems like not many would do something like that, even if they are family.”

“Well, that’s good to hear. You really have done wonders at that place, Lip… I’m sure the old man is proud.” Ferris softly said with a chuckle, however only because despite Phillip’s words of everything going swell… He couldn’t help but feel somewhat guilty. He always did whenever he talked to him about the company. He cleared his throat as they entered the diner. “Have you talked to Dad recently?”

“Hm,” he hummed for a moment, his head nodding a bit before continuing. “I’m about the same. I spend far more time in my office than I do anywhere else.” 

“You are frickin’ welcome,” Aurora replied with a chuckle and a playful roll of her eyes. When he asked if she knew anybody, the blonde shrugged, “I mean it’s definitely an unusual request. I’d have to send out some texts, see if anybody’s down. Perhaps– hold on. If I help you, what’s in it for me?”

“I know you won’t, but even if you tried you wouldn’t succeed. Nobody gets in between me and my fun,” Ginny added with a seemly sweet smile, something feeling slightly off about it.

“Awesome, man.” Ferris exclaimed as he walked with his brother out of the building, heading to the nearby diner. “So, how’s work been anyway? That meeting… it looked so… I’m going to be honest, ‘boring’. That about right?” He asked playfully, making small talk as they walked.

“So, anything new happening since the last time we spoke?” Adam asked, trying to best at small talk while they walked. 

“Maybe they’d get off your back if you showed up with a date of your own,” she suggested. While her tone was amused, it sounded like proper advice. “I mean what would your dad be able to do if you convinced him you found someone without his help?”

“Well, sucks for you then,” she shrugged. “I’m going to go enjoy some time off.”

 “ Scotch as well. To sharing poisons, ” Derek remarked, toasting with an imaginary glass. “ Two glasses of scotch, please. Neat, ” he asked the server before turning back to Phillip. “ How goes life outside of business, then ? ”

“Oh, it’s not problem really. I get wanting to see everything, plus it’s easier to explain designs face to face really.” He replied, shrugging his shoulders a little. “Um, sure. I have a bit before my next meeting. Lead the way.” Adam answered, rolling up the blueprints and putting them back in the container he kept them in. 

“I don’t spend as much time as you do,” she countered with a chuckle. “Fair but you need to turn that thing off every now and again. Work is important, but so is giving yourself some time off, mister. I love my job but even I need to take a break sometimes.”
