I am eternally confused by the bad rep the Entropy school has in the fandom
Never mind the Entropy mage who drains life energy and prevents healing magic from taking effect, who’s dark and dangerous and too cowardly to make the final leap to blood magic
Give me the Entropy mage who uses sleep spells as a supplement to healing, to ensure Alistair or Wynne or Oghren or Anders doesn’t have to deal with nightmares for once
(Because hey, if you can give nightmares with magic, surely you can give sweet dreams as well)
Give me the Entropy mage who uses Mass Paralysis on whole battlefields and simply walks away, leaving a small bag of money behind for when the spell wears off, because those bandits are desperate and starving and confused and just trying to survive in a world gone mad
Hell, give me the Entropy mage who uses Mass Paralysis on whole battlefields and then talks both sides down to a peaceful resolution
Give me the Entropy mage who learned to drain life by accident because, well, that’s just healing in reverse, who would never, ever, ever use it on a person (though darkspawn are another matter)
Give me the Entropy mage who laughs in the face of anyone who says Entropy means chaos, because the school names are about what you control, not what you create, and if you think this is chaos have you seen a Primal spell recently? Entropy is about preventing chaos, more often than not
Give me the Entropy mage who turns events to their advantage, slowly, subtly, who pickpockets never seem to see and who just happens to find a mirror that looks exactly like the one your mother smashed on the floor all those years ago, to find a locket in a drawer in a castle they’ve never visited before, to find a certain flower, a certain sword, because it’s such a small coincidence to create, really, but in the grand scheme of things it means so much…
Give me the Entropy mage who cares, who puts more stock in preventing their friends getting hurt than in hurting others in turn, who brings more good luck to their friends than bad luck to their foes, and who doesn’t care if nobody ever realises how dangerous they truly are, because really, if they wanted flashy spells they would have joined all the other lunks slinging fireballs.
Give me that mage, and then let me watch them tear the world apart and rebuild it in their image while nobody ever knows it was them.
