sometimes I think about how deeply hypocritical you would have to make Roy Harper for his political views and life story to make any sort of sense and I consider jumping into a lake
Right it’s treated as very. This is the natural state of being for him. He doesn’t have feelings on being a fed or on the work he’s doing because it doesn’t seem to have registered to most of his writers that this is something that could be in conflict with his beliefs. Most of the stuff I’ve read with him doing spy work has him talking about his relationship with Lian, which, like that’s fine. We love Lian. But I want to know if Roy is an anarchist or really any sort of leftist at all, and if so how he thinks about what he’s doing, and no one seems to be interested in that… at least not anything I’ve read, if I’m missing something please tell me.
a lot of CBI things with Roy tend to characterize his time with them as marred by ethics violations- we find out Roy literally killed someone on the job in Arsenal 1998 and he ultimately leaves because of corruption- but they’re always, like, outstanding violations. It’s always ‘this specifically is crossing a line’ and never ‘I have issues with the organization itself’. Which, okay, if he doesn’t, let’s talk about that. What does he think of Ollie? Did he used to agree with him, and if so, why did that change? If he was never an anarchist, how did that affect him and Oliver’s partnership? Will we ever get an answer? Probably not.
The arrows in general have a problem where their supposed political ideologies get treated like… set dressing kind of? And the way they’re actually written is like particularly loud liberals. Which is a contradiction that is also never addressed because, again, it doesn’t seem to have crossed anyone at DC’s mind’s that this is something odd. I love Roy, but there’s this giant rat’s nest of inexplained contradictions at the center of a very pivotal time in his life, and it’s like… what are we supposed to do with this?

FINALLY I finished this series of hero portraits
it took me a long time but here we are, hope you'll like it!!
Richard Grayson has difficulty sleeping around people he doesn't trust, and if he's exhausted and his body collapses it is still a very light sleep until he is with a trusted person, someone he can trust will keep him safe, my favourite flavour of this is when he is in a light sleep, someone tries to wake him and gets a batterang to the throat (this would be him as Robin)
However if we wanna be sad Batman realising Richard doesn't feel safe enough to sleep near him
