König speaking English and suddenly forgetting the right word mid sentence. He gets frustrated as you try to guess what he meant from the sentence before he finally just shouts a word combination that isn't that wrong but isn't quite right either.
König: I need more.. more..
You: fruit? Veg? Cheese?
König: nein, the.. foot gloves!
You: foot gloves? What is.. what the fuck is a foot glove?
König: foot gloves are what you put on before your boots.
You: [Sighing] Socks, König. You mean socks.
Socks is Socken in german. Or Strümpfe, depending on the region you come from.
The funny thing is...
I had this exact thing happen during my stay in the US.
I just sat there explaining a concept to my professor and suddenly stopped and looked at her all helpless.
Her: "Forgot a word? Try and describe it."
Me: "Hand... Shoes?"
Her: "Hand shoes?"
Me: "like shoes for your hand? Probably more like socks?"
Her: "Gloves."
Me: "Gloves."
Gloves in german are Handschuhe. Hand shoes.
