#yeah other people already pointed this out but like#10mil is not that much in terms of Hollywood's budgets#but mid budget movies are fucking dying#it either has to be stupid cheap so there's no risk or they pour all their resources into it to 'guarantee' massive profits#it's not enough for a movie to do pretty well so they all have to have the broadest possible target audience#there's obviously exceptions esp in the arthouse and international industries but it is a trend#also I remember hearing people talk about Ari Aster for example and how he's had some massively succesvol movies so now he just gets to do#whatever he wants#and that just does not go for most female directors#people talk about how men are allowed to make flop movies and women often don't get a second chance#and the flip side of that is that even if you make maybe the most influential film in the past 30 years it doesn't guarantee shit#esp as a trans woman of course that just adds another layer of discrimination#anyway I hope she gets this funded#if I had a cool 10mil lying around it'd be yours Lily#rewatched bound this week and holy fuck it's so good#you can really see how the camera work would evolve for the matrix
