After we fought you ignored me for a week. Even though you eventually responded, we aren’t as close as we used to be. And, I cant help but wonder, if you can go a week without me, can you go a lot longer?

My group was scheduled for 2:00 pm January 14th at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. I got there at 1:00 pm and the line outside stretched to about a block from the doors. The line moved pretty quickly, I’d say we only waited outside for 25 minutes. Once inside there was security check then the next line formed. That line took about the same amount of time. Once at the front they checked my audition pass and ID and let me through to the next line which was just outside of the arena. This line barely moved at all, I was standing in the same spot for at least 20 minutes. Once at the front of this line they checked my audition pass and ID again then sent me to the arena. Once at the bottom of the stairs I was motioned to one of 4 lines in front of the registration table. There was already an entire section of seats filled, plus 3 other lines full of people in the arena. As each line was permitted to the registration table, filed people from upstairs down to that line. Because of this, I had to wait for lines 2,3, and 4 to complete registration before I could, this was about a 30 minute process. Registration consisted of turning in my audition pass and release forms then receiving the 2 paper bands, as shown above. I was then directed to the seats and filed in with thousands of people. I sat down at about 3:00 pm. Sitting was an hour long wait. As they filled 3 other sections a woman came to my row of people and pointed us to another group of lines. There was ten people in my group and we stood next to 5 other groups of ten. At this point, we were on the other side of the arena in front of the tunnel that led to the audition rooms. One by one, the groups were led back by a crew member and sat on chairs just outside of their assigned audition room. After about 10 minutes, we were let into a small room with 5 chairs on each side for the singers and 5 in the back for the parents of minors (me).  The producer sat at a table in the front of the room. She welcomed us then called us up randomly. We introduced ourselves, said the name and artist of our song, then sang a verse and chorus (about 30 seconds). When we had all sang she told us it was a no for our entire group and we were escorted out. I was outside at 5:20 pm. The entire process was about 4 1/2 hours long. However, I don’t regret it. Even though I was rejected it didn’t stifle my love for music or singing and I don’t feel like I failed. It was a fun experience and a very rare opportunity and I’m glad I gave it a shot.
