Wings of Pegasus

Shinichi was started to say the least. Last he expected was Kazu to…fall from the sky??? The detective looked up to try to see just how the other came from above. He sighed. “Kazu, were you on your treks again? Did you just fall? What if you got hurt?” Not that he was one to talk about being reckless. 

But what was done is done and now he was a student at a new high school. The school seemed to be fairly normal. Shinichi had to admit that it was nice to be in high school again. In elementary school there was always someone nearby watching to ensure your safety. In high school there was a lot less hovering. He missed that small freedom.

He expected the eyes when he walked into the classroom. People were naturally curious beings and when something new was added to their lives, they wanted to know more about it. Shinichi just stood there in a professional manner, but also was calm and relaxed. After the Conan incident he liked being stared at less and less, but he was expecting it this time so it was easier to control his fight or flight instinct. He waited patiently as the teacher introduced him and then he stepped up and introduced himself again.

"Kudou Shinichi. Hope to get along with everyone." He wondered how many of these people knew him as the ‘Great Detective’. He was fairly known throughout Tokyo but it has been almost a full year since his name appeared in the papers. It was funny, how before he would thrive off attention but now he was hoping that no one recognized him. It would be too tiring to have to answer questions and live up to expectations if he had to be the ‘Heisei Holmes’ at this new school. Of course that is to say he wasn’t about to give up being a detective, of course not, but if he could help it he was going to keep his names out of the papers. It was good he was still a minor and had the right for his names to be kept secret. It made everything a lot easier.

 Yet, Kazu ignored him when the other sat behind him and began to take notes on the lesson. Tom-Tom was a terrible teacher, but they didn't have much learn from her. Slowly, time ticked by and the bell rang.

 The blond gathered his things then dared a look back at the new student. What a weirdo. His hair defied gravity, like Ikki's did, but it looked a little stupider than the Storm King. He finally pulled his gaze away and made his way to the roof to meet up with his friends.

 He stopped to grab lunch, and made his way up to the roof only to find his stupid friends had moved their meeting spot without telling him -- again. How did he know this? Deductive reasoning, he supposed. After all, they weren't there. Kazu turned to make his way back down the staircase when a loud voice from behind the wall that protected the staircase;

 "You think 'cause every girl thinks you're so handsome means ya get a free pass through the year?" Curious, Kazu made his way around the building, peering around the wall to see the new guy surrounded by three or four bullies. Well, then... He wasn't one for drawing attention to himself, but he couldn't let them get away with this.

"Here-" I could tell by his shifty eyes that it may of been a bit much. Being someone who was so used to attention and eyes, I sometimes forgot it bothered him. With a little fix, he might feel more comfortable.

Ah? He was pleading now? He wanted me to go easy on him now, was that it? It wasn’t like he could do much, especially in this state. He needed to stay quiet, take it how he deserves it.

Slowly, I eased up on his throat, letting him breathe with some ease. I could feel the bruises forming under my fingers, stroking his neck soothingly. Little Kazuma needed to know his place, I wasn’t actually trying to hurt him, right? Yeah, that was it~

   "Yes," came his simple reply, despite the mocking tone. He bit back tears and forced himself to look up at Spitfire. If he tried desperately to look strong, then Spitfire would have no reason to punish him. "We... We should go home." He spoke quietly, though he kept his voice strong for a final attempt to seem as though he was becoming stronger.

 That's all Spitfire wanted for him. Was to be strong. He just wanted to make sure Kazu wasn't weak, that he could become a King that could be matched by no other. It wasn't hate. It might have hurt, but it was out of love. Because if Kazu wasn't strong, he would get himself killed one day. Love hurt. That was how it was. He could handle it.

My finger stroked his throat a little to rough, pressing into his airways. ‘Next time’ was a joke. Really quite insulting to be honest- didn’t he understand what it meant to be King? He wasn’t anywhere near the strength of one, he was a weak as fly.

Probably would squash like one too~

"You’re wretched,” I spat, grasping his throat hard enough so he was gasping for breathe- reeling for air. Ha~! Look at him! He’ll definitely learn now~!

Good, he seemed to like it. I thought about betting him a black scarf, but I think red was the right choice. It suited him.

I punched the wall, grazing his cheek. Luckily his face was pretty, I didn’t like dirtying it- he looked meek and pathetic when it was. Maybe if I scare him enough he might actually look at me. Wake up- snap out of it for fucks sake! He couldn’t pull this shit anymore, it old! I needed him to buck up, actually grow a heart!and stop moping around.

Pathetic. 

“‘Near the end’? What the bloody hell is that ‘suppose to mean? You fucked up hard, right? riGHT?” I yanked out my bloody hand hand from the loose bricks, stroking his neck.

   "I-- It--" He exhaled hard and took a second lungful of fear with the gentle caress of his neck. He closed his eyes for just the moment, thankful for a tender touch instead of a painful one. "No-- I--... Yeah. Yeah, we botched it. Bad. You know... This team is reckless. We were...nothing to them."

BABY, YOU’VE COME BACK TO ME. TODAY WAS HEAVEN BUT THIS IS THE GLORIOUS ICING ON TOPPPPPPP !!!!!!!)

I grabbed his wrist, smacking him against the brick wall in the alley way. He was covered in bruises, head to fucking toe. I knew it wasn’t from Riding- I had eyes and ears all over town.

This was bullshit!

"Who fuck did this, hu? Hu? Was it one of those shitty ass Riders from South Japan? Did they kick your fucking ass again like last time? Or did you actually put a scratch on them?" I spat, digging my sharp nails into his skin, letting the warm blood flow from him. Good! He deserved it for losing to those pathetic losers! Shit deserved to be kicked in the ribs!

 His arm throbbed where Spitfire gripped tightly and he turned his face away from the scolding. He dared open his eyes and focused his gaze on a crushed pop can on the ground. He was a failure. He was an absolute failure. And he was supposed to be the next Flame King?
