Okay, so..... my feelings toward hurthawksweek are....pretty positive, considering i created it and am modding it lmao (along with @kidhawks and @officially-dumb)

Whump in general i think hits a spot for a lot of people. I can't speak for anyone else, but I like it bc i think it's entertaining and bc i like crying. I also really love hurt/comfort but the comfort feels cheap unless the hurt is like.... REALLY hurt.

Don't feel guilty. Your likes in fiction are not always your likes irl; it doesn't make you a bad person. Sometimes I struggle watching soccer bc i feel too bad for the losing team, but with fictional characters i'm like, yes, suffer for my enjoyment. What is there to feel guilty about? Do you feel guilty watching fight scenes in action movies? Reading about conflict in books? Fiction is great because it's not real. I can hurt my fav fictional characters all I want, and no one is negatively affected.

It's almost impossible to find fiction where there's no pain anyway. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is dora the explorer.

It's also not as weird or uncommon as you think! a lot of people are hesitant to admit it bc we think it's weird, but there are plenty of us that like extreme hurt/comfort type stuff. hurt hawks week already has over 100 followers on twitter—you're not alone!! I don't think it's any weirder than liking any other genre, like fluff, horror movies, action, comedy, whatever.
