Jacoby: "It's kinda cold."
Lya: "I know. Just stay close. Okay?"
Jacoby looks up at his sister who shifts a little closer to him. She was trying her best to keep him within her long coat that's definitely seen better days.
Jacoby: "Why are we out here? What if mama gets upset?"
Lya: "Jay. It's okay. Don't worry about her."
Her words were harsh. Not at Jacoby. But at the person he called mother so dearly.
Lya: "Because you should come outside more. I don't want that house to be the only thing you know of Jay."
The word "house" was cold on Lya's tongue. Jacoby remembers when she used to be protective of that word. Like he was what danger of it. But now. Now it was like she saw the house as a danger to him.
Jacoby doesn't know how he should feel about that. So instead he just feels sick. Again.
Lya: "Jay." Lya wasn't looking at him. She was looking up. At the levels that shined down on them. The levels that were always just out of reach. Yet, were still a sign of being free.
Lya: "You should see the world." Her voice was soft again. It made Jacoby feel weird. Like something bad was going to happen. Even though, deep down, he knew it already did.
Lya: "You... You deserve more then this world is giving you. So much more than mom tries to make you believe... And... And more than I can give you. So... Please promise me that you'll fight... Fight for what you love and deserve. Even if you don't think it's true or even right, hell even if it feels impossible. Just fight. Okay...? Jay."

Jacoby opened his eyes as he heard someone scream. He was breathing heavily and his ears wouldn't stop ringing; as he looked around at the flames and falling homes. Under his arm was the person who helped he make this mess. Kyko.
In the distance behind him, he heard muffled screams of his cousin, Izzy. She was fighting. Trying to get over here. To him. To them. Maybe it was his name she was screaming. It was hard to tell with all the ringing.
Lotus, the Princess, who was the only one to care for ALL of her people. Not just the rich and beneficial. She was kind. And she too was screaming. Begging. Not at Jacoby. But at the king in front of Kyko and him.
Jacoby held Kyko closer as his senses came back. Every part of his body felt like it was going to explode. All from the sheer amount of energy he used. He was stuck on his back for his limbs were too heavy.
He was dumb. He went too far. Kyko won't move. He was out cold. Because Jacoby made a mistake. He forget he was never supposed be kind. Not to the cruel. He can't give people second chances. Ever. Did he learn nothing from Smile? The man who gave up everything, even his life, to give them this opportunity.
Oh. Oh here we go again... That bad thing that always happens because of Jacoby's existence. And ignorance. Just like his mother said.
All Jacoby could do was give his old worn down smile as he thought of his sister's words once more.
"Fight for what you love and deserve. Even if you don't think it's true or even right, hell even if it feels impossible. Just fight."
As the King raised his gun. As Jacoby saw his own fate within that barrel. Jacoby forced himself to sit up and kneel in front of Kyko. He made a decision. He made his promise.

Jacoby: "Okay... I promise." Jacoby smiled at his sister. Who finally looked back down at her sweet little brother. A little boy, who despite everything, still gave others chances they never deserved. In hopes to provide they too can be good.
Lya chuckled and messed with Jacoby's hair getting a laugh out of while she smiled back.
Lya: "Alright. Come on, Jay. Let's go home."

(Couldn't sleep so I stayed up till like... 2 in the morning. I started this at midnight. Idk what happened before that tho. Wasn't sentient till midnight.)
