The internet is a fun place. In researching Victorian era newspaper agony columns, I found this article that has a link to a dataset for actual London Times agony column postings from 1860-1879.
I thought it would be fun to write a little Holmes fic using secret coded messages from real agony column postings... and then I wrote a 15-chapter fic about the Hiatus. If you're into epistolary sad/angst with a happy ending, want to read stuff Victorians put in the newspaper, love when Mycroft makes an appearance in a fic, or are just a sucker for a Hiatus story, then enjoy.
A huge thank you to @julienbakerstreet for reading this and cheering me on!

Wanted to let you know I visited the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle collection and got to view the zine there! Great work to all involved, and you should be proud
I'm so pleased to hear that! Interning the anthology into the collection is definitely one of my proudest moments, and especially because it gives people who were unable to purchase the book a chance to read it in that beautiful space. Thank you for telling us! 🥺
For something ridiculously cool: If you live in the GTA and want to get your hands on a copy of the zine--Very Sincerely Yours now lives in the Toronto Reference Library's ACD Collection, on the 5th floor! I donated a copy a few weeks ago and now it's yours to read (in-library), for free! The ACD Collection is an unbelievably cool archive with real vintage copies of the Strand Magazine and just about every piece of Holmesian supplementary material that you can think of, I highly recommend a visit!
It's a little surreal to think that I have a book in the Toronto Public Library, the very same library system that first taught me how to read, but that's life for you!
As of today, we're officially on our final few shipping batches! These last 200 orders are for backers of the Both or None reward living outside of the US and Canada, and for those who submitted their Pledge Managers after May 8th. Thank you so much for your patience so far, it's been a very busy month of preparing everyone's packages and delivering them to my very generous, very forgiving local postal office. By way of apology and explanation for the long shipping timeframe--I just began a new job a couple of weeks ago, and am dedicating all my remaining time to shipping and packing!
There was also a delay with inputting tracking links for backers in the US/CA. As such, you may have just received a tracking notification for a package that has already arrived. Speaking of tracking links, if there are any further concerns with tracking your package (if it was reported as lost, if you haven't received a tracking link but are in the US/CA, etc.), please send me a message or email and we can sort it out!
In other news, I've received some reports of books arriving damaged by the post, which I apologize sincerely for! Books are being packaged in a bubble-lined mailer, but owing to the weight of the hardcover and general postal-related mishaps, we can't guarantee that they won't be harmed during transit. For the purposes of shipping out books ASAP, we will be continuing with bubble mailers for now, but for our leftovers sale I will be purchasing cardboard mailers instead.
If your book arrived severely damaged: Please get in contact with me, with photos of the damage as well as the packaging it arrived it, and we can discuss filing an insurance claim from our shipping partner! If the damage is minor (eg. dented corners, bumped cover), we can look into getting a refund for the cost of shipping, but if the damage is severe enough (ripped paper, deep dents) I am also happy to arrange a replacement copy!
If your book did not arrived damaged: Please do share with us your zine and merchandise on social media! I may be slow to re-share, but myself and all our contributors are genuinely delighted to see everyone receiving their books. Tag us on Tumblr or Bluesky in your posts, it makes my day! 📚
As we're winding down on shipping out pledges, just a notice to the 38 backers who have still not submitted their Pledge Manager: you have until June 15th to submit your shipping information, after which your rewards will be considered forfeit! After that time, we'll have a clear idea of how many books will be available for our leftovers sale, which should take place in mid-to-late June at this rate.
As always, thank you all for your support and love for this project, we're so honoured to have made it a reality. 💌
whats funny to me is that all the sherlock adaptations show sherlock as a creepy braggy intelligent cryptid watched by his exasperated friend watson while the truth in acd canon is. sherlock is a whimsical braggy intelligent cryptid watched by his enthralled and deeply proud friend watson. theres a difference there and it includes the world whimsical because goddamn fuck canon sherlock is WHIMSICAL

in a way john watson is a fantasy (what if you had this brilliant enigmatic friend and what if he liked you in particular and what if he offered you the excitement of youth and adventures and a way out of boring society life and all without having to actually give up your status as a gentleman so you could have the best of both worlds) and in a way sherlock holmes is a fantasy (what if someone never got tired of you despite your various strange habits and mood swings and instead of simply tolerating you they genuinely liked you and what if you didn’t have to live alone forever and what if you never had to give up doing the things you love) and of course there’s the most fantastical part of it all (what if you could afford london housing prices)

Oh huh! I hadn't realized I didn't post this one here on Tumblr! I finished this study in early March and have plans to have it be one of 3 pieces to go together 🙂↕️
[ID: Digital painting of Sherlock Holmes and Toby the dog, a study of Leyendecker's "Man with a dog" (1909) for Collier's Weekly. Holmes is in his coat, striped pants, top hat and grey scarf, Toby following a trace by his side. They are painted mid-motion. /end ID]
“He gave no explanations and I asked for none. By long experience I had learned the wisdom of obedience. But when I had left his room I walked down Baker Street, revolving in my head how on earth I was to carry out so strange an order.”
Our Little Adventures 54/60 | Tumblr | RSS | Newsletter
Captain Wiggins of the Baker Street Irregulars follows Holmes to the Reichenbach Falls and tells the real adventures of the lost years...

Vampire’s exist! (Ain’t that crazy?)
Lurking in spots where it’s hazy
Dr Watson might pout
Since he sits this one out
Will he ever forgive them? Well maybe…
Lovely to finally be about to hold the physical copy of @very-sincerely-yours-zine, a wonderful Holmes & Watson anthology organised by @haedraulics and @inevitablies, with half the proceeds going to The Palestine Children's Relief Fund. I contributed some illustrations for a story by @mistyzeo (with whom it is always a delight to work), a short retirement comic vaguely about transness, and a couple other merch bits. Thanks for having me!

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was born on May 22, 1859. The physician/writer is best known for creating the brilliant detecting duo, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. #botd
