Drow tend to sleep naked, or (males) in sleepshorts, or (females of rank and standing, such as all priestesses) open jackets, like a real-world “bolero” or “shrug” fur overjacket, that conceal nothing and are used for ornamentation and to denote personal importance. Drow pull on “house boots” (higher-than-the-knee dark, soft-soled boots) when up and about from their beds, indoors.

Wah haha. Well.
She's certainly not Taken. But you should never expect to fully have her to yourself. (Translation: Not Monogamous)
✧ ━━━━⊱⋆⊰━━━━ ✧
As for her ex-wife. I'm more than happy to share! It forced me to sit down and finally finish fixing up her design so that I could actually talk about her publicly, which is awesome. So many thanks to you and your kind.
Just a scratch...

Thinking about my spider drow again 🕷
"Do you think I'm overdressed?"
End of an era
Uryle (No Last Name) - An old dark mask that acted as Enclave's mentor figure when she first arrived within Vhaeraun's church. He's long death (But Enclave has never felt particularly strongly about her grief towards him outside of the usual process of it, as he was Considerably ancient even by the time she'd met him in 1192.)
His arm is able to pivot and move in weird and unusual ways, but has spent a few centuries weighing him down. If he didnt have that thang he probably wouldnt have the hunch or stave, but he sees it as a worthwhile sacrifice for the sheer firepower it offers.

Extra info:
I think creating an engaging Eilistraee priestess (at least those that converted from Lolth) means needing to acknowledge that at some point in the past that character was likely deeply abusive and if not active in the harm of others than complicit in it. I think a lot of people sort of mythologize the abuse their characters enacted in the positions they had as Lolth worshipping priestesses, and if they do acknowledge it don't tend to actually let the narrative tackle that or sit with it. I think that those actions SHOULD come back to haunt them. There should be people that they've hurt, or people that knew the people they hurt. Does the fact that they've found a kinder faith erase the harm they did to those they did it to? How does she handle being confronted with the reprocussions of the harm she caused, especially once in a place where she's grown. I think these are interesting questions to play with. I think its very easy to place more emphasis on the catalyst that drove them from the church (often the most tragic point in their story, which paints them as a victim) but i also think its important to highlight and toy with the tragedies THEY caused other people.
Likewise, by contrast, I think making an engaging Lolth Worshipping priestess involves giving her things to humanize her. I think its very easy to create a character that is just evil for the sake of being evil, but that it's more interesting to pressure the audience into confronting the larger societal structures that places people into positions in which they enact harm. I don't think lolth priestesses are particularly interesting when they're just sexy Girl Boss Manipulators, I think that to some degree they should be a little tragic. But I also don't think the tragedy of the situation takes away from the abuse they inflict. What are the things that, if they had different circumstances, could have led them to leaving the church. Y'know. Am I making sense.
#REAL#Ngl I also think this goes for most lolthite exile characters#especially those w noble backgrounds#‘my noble male drow was treated as a slave’ mama ur noble drow and his family OWNED the slaves…#Can’t escape Lolthite society w/o having done some evil shit before
This post was not about male characters. This post was specifically about the way female characters are often shaped in the light of being either entirely good or entirely evil, and not allowed often given the kind of nuance that allows them to be engaging characters - Be it the narrative challenging them for past actions if they're good, or being allowed sympathy if they're evil. This post is also critique about a larger, passive refusal to engage with female characters as the oppressive class within the context of their society, what actions they engaged in and what permissive while in that role, and critiquing why The Generalized People struggle to allow their female characters to be portrayed engaging with these evils unless they have decided that the female character is irredeemable and intentionally cruel.
This was a post strictly about Female Characters. This post was about woman being abusers, and exploring female characters as abusers, and actually letting people sit with the weight of their actions as abuse. This is what I personally want to see female drow characters tackling when they come out of their positions of power in drow society, and what I enjoy exploring as someone who writes for a lot of drow woman.
However since you brought up: As someone who DOES write drow woman, I will be talking about this. The context of which male drow characters and the violence they enact exist within is drastically different than that of female drow characters and their violence. The system of govern is set up so that noble drow woman will not and can basically never be targets of slavery. Former priestesses of Lolth (Which would include all of the nobility, as they have to go through clerical schooling) cannot be sold into slavery in Menzoberranzan.
This is not to say the ruling Council al-ways adopts a 'hands-off or neutral position towards the Bazaar. Someone who breaks their rules, or sells things they don't approve of (such as access to wor-ship services of deities other than Lloth, spells that purport to neutralize House defense glyphs, or female drow slaves guar-anteed to be former priestesses of Lloth) will soon meet with an "accident" that de-stroys their stall, typically with them in it.

Drow men aren't just "Treated like slaves." They ARE one of the major slave castes within the context of Menzoberranzan and places like it. Noble Drow Men aren't just included in this, but in quite a few canon cases specifically birthed so that they can be sold into it.
Fifth House of Menzoberranzan
Matron Mother Zeerith and her daughters have consistently given birth to male offspring of high magical ability. The purpose of the aforementioned screening of youths is to determine, at a very young age, the exact level of aptitude exhibited by the boy toward the arcane arts. Only those youths who demonstrate a significant level of potential are retained by the family, to begin immediate schooling as a mage's apprentice. All other male children are disposed of. Some are sacrificed in family ceremonies. Others are sold to Bregan D'aerthe to serve as warriors in that mercenary legion. Those who display some physical proficiencies are sometimes spared the deadly kiss of Lloth, instead being sold into slavery. This procedure ensures that even "useless" sons contribute to the house in the form of the riches or the favors of Lloth gained from the youth's sacrifice.

Jalynfein, “The Spider Mage”:
The Spider Mage knows what it feels like to be imprisoned, and opposes slavery of any sort, for all races. If he can thwart a scheme of any priestess and escape detec-tion, he will; he hates the cruelty and wanton destructiveness of most drow priestesses. In his youth, he spurned a priestess, who in fury slashed open his face and doused the wounds with a corrosive distillate of spider poison. His face became a purplish, bloated ruin resembling a fungus-growth. She imprisoned the now-unrecognizable youth in her chambers, to be her personal slave. It was a long time before he found a chance to take his revenge. When he did, it proved fatal for his captor. He fled into the wild Underdark, vowing to return on-ly when he had magic enough to hold his own in cruel Menzoberranzan.

The long years fell away as the drow remembered another, similar vessel. That time, Elkantar had been chained in the cargo hold: a warrior-trained youth, nobly born but too rebellious for his matron mother's liking. What he had endured during his slavery, and how he'd finally made his escape, pressed heavily on him now. But this was a time for action, not for memories.
Daughter of the Drow, page 323
Drow were the largest racial group of Tradesport, and they provided a large number of drow slaves to Tradesport's commerce. This large number of drow slaves was mostly comprised of males of Nykhandthandar, who were swindled by corrupt merchants promising to smuggle the males out of the dangerous Lolthite city.
Isle of the End. Living City (RPGA), pp. 9–10.
Baldurs Gate 2 and Throne of Bhaal
Regardless of gender men and women both have to do incredibly cruel things to survive and leave drow society. But the context of Male Noble Drow, as a class of people that if they do enact the violence their mothers expect of them will be thrown into slavery or killed, and Female Noble Drow, as enactors of violence, who's society is set up so that they have the protections and allowances to Mess Up and reclaim positions of power if they fail to leave is different. Because woman in drow society are the oppressors, and the one who systemic oppression benefits on the whole.
Those two stories should be approached differently, and different things SHOULD be emphasized when writing them.
