At the age of eighteen, artist Wang Ximeng painted a large-scale Chinese landscape painting, the artwork used precious mineral palette, even though it has been in existence for more than 900 years, the brilliant hues of green and blue are still looks spectacular. It is a description of the landscape of the Song Dynasty, looking far from this artwork, the main object of this work is mountains which painted with azurite and a green pigment made of malachite, all objects are interconnected by the traditional Chinese long bridge. With mountains and water flows, village, farmer, and fishing boat, the artist was delineated living things with fine brushworks, detailed, vivid and lively.

The artwork received high reviews from the emperor of the North Song Dynasty:” The whole world can be seen in this painting.（天下事于作之）” (Zhao Ji, 1082-1135, the emperor of North Song Dynasty) The main purpose of this landscape painting is to show the great country to the emperor. To flatter him, the artist only detailed about quiet life and magnificent scenery, even though the country was already in a precarious situation. Reading about the history, the emperor had no statesmanship and was infatuated with art, he gave the painter with priceless materials, but the people were starving and homeless at that time, the country was in years of war and chaos but the landscape in the painting still undisturbed. Art is simple, but to understanding arts can’t just focus on the display of beauty on painting, further to know the artwork’s emotional and back history in depth.
