Although Reid makes it personal, thereâs still an important message here that shows Dr. Reid knows whatâs up re: schizophrenia and violence
Fun fact: schizophrenics are literally less likely to commit an act of violence than someone who doesnât experience mental illness.
We are however significantly more likely to be victims of abuse, addiction, poverty, and suicide.
Schizophrenics donât need the media constantly telling people weâre a time bomb. We need help and patience. And hugs. And maybe some ice cream.
Reblogging because the âfun factâ is both true and important for everyone to know.
This goes for everyone will mental health problems.
Theyâre more likely to be victims than perpetrators
But the media doesnât like that because thatâll take the âcrazyâ and put it on them
Does anyone with psychosis unable to function while alone for too long? Like, a few hours, a night, or an entire day? I'm not sure why, but I always knew I couldn't handle being by myself for too long even if I'm okay beforehand, and that I didn't have any episodes for awhile. I'm not sure why, but I can't function correctly. I'm okay 4 hours in, but I begin to lose portions of myself, and unable to properly control the way I am. Or is that just me??
I can actually relate to this way too much. I can't function very well at all when I'm left alone, the depression is what really hits and I just feel like I cannot be alone without breaking down. So, no, you're not alone. Do what you can to feel better when these things happen, ok? Call a friend. Text someone. Do something to connect with another person. I think having a plac to go when you're alone is really important, and if anyone can provide that for you, take them up on it. It's going to be ok. Take care of yourself, alright? I'm here if you need me.

ADHD brain be like âOh I have a ton of free time, but none of the literally dozens of things I could do to fill that time seem Gratifying Enough to commit mental energy to, so Iâm just gonna sit here dissociating for five hours while also singing Queen songs in my head probably.â
How do you protect yourself from being stalked online by your parents?
I often get messages from teens living with their abusive parents telling me about how terrifying it is for them to even look at my blog in case their parent finds out. I was a teenager before social networking on the internet. Honestly, when I was a teenager there was barely an internet yet. So, I donât know how people protect themselves but I feel like probably there are ways. If you know please do share! A lot of people would find it helpful.
Advice for keeping your phone safe in toxic environments:
Keep things in google apps
Everything is saved to your account, ex. you can delete google photos when your phone is checked, and download it again afterwards and get all your photos back
Also because itâs on your account you can log into google on a friendâs computer or a library computer or something if you need to
Iâm not sure about other apps but I know you can put a password on google docs
People are more likely to check notes but assume you have google docs for school assignments and not check that
A lot of people monitor texts/use programs that monitor texts, but whoâs going to remember to check Google Hangouts?
Use the internet on apps that arenât Safari
Download another browser and put it in a different folder, because most people can check your safari history but wonât find another app and then figure out how to check the search history of that app
Also use the internet when you click the link in social media ex. If you click a link on a Pinterest pin it can take you to that link on the internet but stay in Pinterest, so it wonât show up in search histories
Inform your friends and if you want to be really sneaky use code when texting
Sending messages as code helps. Ending sentences with certain letters can work. Need something? Definitely use code. Friends can help you. Or other family. Or teachers. Donât hesitate to reach out. (the first letter of every sentence spelled out SEND FOOD)
Literally just google pigpen code or ceasarian cipher or whatever you want and you can find a way to talk that most people wouldnât understand
Awesome info. Thank you!
There are more responses too that I canât reblog. Check out the notes to see them.
I was in this situation a while ago, another thing to do is you can make second accounts on your social media and block your parents account so they donât find it
For social media, I either go by a different name/photo w/e and block my family or I just make a second account and block them all again.
And Iâve always had a password on everything, so they canât go through it and I wonât let them.
no one is coming after me but still reblogging because other people definitely need this info
Thank you! Yes. Please, everyone boost. So many need this info.
Fake/second accounts are great for this, as long as you still use your other accounts for safe messages and websites, etc so they donât get suspicious when they check it. Also, only deleting the parts of your search history that your parents would object to is less suspect than deleting the whole thing.
If theyâre being sneaky and checking things while youâre not around, make sure to log out of all social media after using it and try to have a slightly different password for each one.
Let your friends and other people know so that they donât accidentally send unsafe messages to your main account.
(Stay safe, guys.Reblog to help each other out.)
If your parents look through the apps on your phone to make sure you arenât using anything like tumblr or a messaging app, you can create a folder filled with boring stuff like settings, the notes app, general shit like that and give it a name like âutilitiesâ or âgeneralâ or something like that. Fill up the first page with those apps, and then put the ones youâre trying to hide on the second or third pages. Your parents will see the app icons from the homescreen and ignore it as they can tell whatâs inside, but only if they arent that tech savvy. Only do this if you know that they wouldnât open the folder and click to other pages
Download duck duck go. Itâs a search engine thats similar to google, but it has a much more thorough and easier way of deleting search history. Your parents might even think its a game, as the logo is literally just a happy duck, which would decrease the odds of them actually looking at the app properly
I just discovered Hide It Pro. It looks like an audio manager but itâs actually a secret vault where you can store apps your abusive parents will lose their minds over. Anyone ever use this?
Hide Photos, Videos, Apps, Messages, Calls in your phone. COMPLETELY FREE and UNLIMITED Hide photos & videos from your photo gallery and ac
I have like 5 active followers but in case anyone ever needs this
A search engine/ browser that my parents literally NEVER CHECK is called puffin- it seems like nobody knows about it but itâs pretty standard and similar to google chrome. It lets you use everything in desktop mode, only it no longer works for iOS devices. Android users, however, are in the clear.
Hide It Pro is AMAZING, if youâre on the fence about getting it please do.
First of all, sharing to save a life yo.
Secondly, this might seem counterproductive, but it seems like an appropriate time to raise awareness of Noonlight for more extreme cases of abusive parents. Itâs an app that can alert a list of people of your choosing when you are in danger, or summon the police in an emergency. Works at home, school, work, or anywhere in-between.

Have you ever been in a situation where you question whether itâs dangerous enough to call 911? Instead of worrying yourself with indecision
Iâll always signal boost this stuff until itâs no longer needed.
thank you guys
also of you need to store things on notes you dont want your parents finding, search calculator diary into the appstore or google play and theres a tonne of secret diary things disguised as calculators which only open if a code is typed in, do even of they do check it they probably womt be able to do anything with it
I feel so bad for kids (and even adults) that have to deal with their parents sitting on their shoulder like parrots like this. Thankfully, my abuser is a literal Boomer and is stuck in the 90s tech-wise. So I donât have to deal with this. But she has tried to get into both my phone and my laptop, claiming that they are actually hers (my phone is NOT hers by any means; she didnât even buy it!). Thatâs the day she figured out Iâm smarter than her and put locks on everything I own.

D4 Ways to Flesh out a Character
These may not be the âbestâ or âmost idealâ ways of fleshing out your new character or NPC, but theyâre definitely some of the silliest. Roll on the table for how you should flesh out your new character.
1. Myers Briggs. Take a Myers Briggs test from your characterâs perspective. Once you have which of the 16 personality frameworks your working with, itâs easy to look up historical figures who share those traits.
2. Olâ Surveys & Questionnaires. Back in the days of MySpace people posted ended lists of survey questions. You can find thousands of these things with a quick google search. Just answer the questions from their perspective.
3. Playlists. Pick a theme song for the character and have a general playlist for different qualities of the character.
4. Image Board. Scrapbook a ton of random images of heroes, trinkets, or whatever that give off the vibe of the character youâre imagining.

What Boundaries Look Like đ
Are You Dissociating?
Dissociating is one of the most common responses to abuse and trauma. It involves feeling numb, detached or unreal and (while it happens to everyone once in a while) is experienced more frequently and severely in survivors. Dissociating people vary widely in symptoms and may experience any or all of the things from the following list.
You may be dissociating if you:
find yourself staring at one spot, not thinking anything
feel completely numb
feel like youâre not really in your body, like youâre watching yourself in a movie.
feel suddenly lightheaded or dizzy
lose the plot of the show or conversation you were focused on
feel as if youâre not quite real, like youâre in a dream
feel like youâre floatingÂ
suddenly feel like youâre not a part of the world around you
feel detached and far away from other people, who may seem mechanical or unreal to you
are very startled when someone/something gets your attention
completely forget what you were thinking just a moment ago
suddenly cover your face or react as if youâre about to be hurt for no reason
canât remember important information about yourself, like your age or where you live
find yourself rocking back and forth
become very focused on a small or trivial object or event
find that voices, sounds or writing seem far away and you sometimes have trouble understanding them.
feel as if youâve just experienced a flashback (perhaps rapidly) but you canât remember anything about it.
perceive your body as foreign or not belonging to you
(likes and reblogs always taken as support)
when things seem bad, you just need to keep going and turn the page :))

âstraight passing privilegeâ and âcis passing privilegeâ donât exist. Whatâs happening is called erasure, itâs not privilege, itâs part of oppression and a result of heteronormativity and cisnormativity. It isnât privilege to have your orientation and gender constantly assumed wrongly, it isnât a privilege to be erased and treated like you donât exist.
