A man who had lived all his life from street vendors, and that now due to the pandemic he couldn't, and recited the same speech without paying attention to who his audience was, and if they had already heard it before. Again I felt an accomplice of the circumstances, again I urged in my wallet in case I had some coins. Fifty cents. Something is something, I told to myself, while I nodded my head listening to his already learned recital. My train arrived, I was about to get on and he said goodbye without having given me the package of tissues. I did not remain calm knowing that he is one of many that I often come across on trains, on the streets. Desperate enough to beg. Still not enough to resort to violence. Otra vez me sentía cómplice de las circunstancias, otra vez urgé en el monedero por si llevaba algunas monedas. Cincuenta céntimos. Algo es algo, me decía a mi mismo, mientras asentaba con la cabeza escuchando su ya aprendido recital. Llegó mi tren, me disponía a subir y se despidió sin haberme dado el paquete de cleenex. No me quedé tranquilo sabiendo que él es uno entre muchos de los que me cruzo a menudo en los trenes, en las calles. Suficientemente desesperados por pedir limosna. Pero aún no lo suficiente para recurrir a la violencia.
