Mathias awakens early in the morning, sliding a hand across the bed to find it…empty.
Empty?
He jolts up, suddenly alert. Loathe to reach for his phone so early in the morning, he rolls over and grabs it, checking if Flynn left a message to explain his absence.
There is a message. Mathias stares at it for several moments…
and swears. Loudly.

Rommath jolts awake to his phone going off. Growling, he snatches it off his nightstand, taking only a single glance at the screen before raising it to his ear. “You better have damn good reason why you’re—”
<“Flynn is gone.”>
Rommath deadpans. “And that is my problem why?” he ground through his teeth.
<“Where is Halduron?”>
“What does that have to—”
<“Where is Halduron?!”>
“With me!” Exasperated, Rommath motions to the empty space next to him as if the Spymaster were there to see it, “He stayed the night at my—”
Empty?
Rommath does a double take. He stares at the empty space where Halduron definitely should be.
<“He’s gone, isn’t he?”> Mathias asks.
“He—what’s going on?”
<“Look at your messages.”>
“Why?”
<“Because if Flynn left me one…”> There was something about Mathias’s tone that chilled the air, even from hundreds of miles away. <“Then Halduron left you the same one.”>
Rommath pulls his phone down to check his messages. Halduron did leave him one. He opens it…
and gains an expression of horror.

The two men meet in Dornogal, moving almost instinctively to a certain bar within the city. They make a beeline toward a table in the back corner.
Flynn and Halduron are there, already three tankards deep, jabbering excitedly about Nickelback’s new album that’s coming out on October 30th and they HAVE to follow the tour oh my god it’d be so fucking cool and they HAVE to bring their boyfriends—oh hey their boyfriends are here!
Rommath and Mathias both feel their souls leave their bodies.
