I’m 52, got diagnosed last year, after about a year or two of ‘Gee, these ADHD memes and callout posts are getting really identifiable’ combined with hitting the wall at work, home, and social life all at once. about a third of my oldest friends were ‘Oh, we thought you already knew/were already managing it’. One was even ‘Oh, I’m not only ADHD myself, so are my three children and I’ve been using you as an example of ‘person with ADHD who’s also got a career and good qualifications and education’ example for my children, we thought you knew’.

can't stop thinking about how andy weir said that rocky is essentially baby talking to grace the entire time because the way he normally speaks is too advanced for their makeshift translator to understand (which makes sense, there is a limited amount of words inputted). so basically the entire time we've been treating rocky as if he's one of the dogs from "up", the ones with the collar that outputs their thoughts in human language. we've been treating rocky like a pet. when actually, rocky has been talking to ryland like a puppy the entire time.... even before y'alls fanon of ryland becoming rocky and adrian's pet human in his zoo enclosure.

love the scene where the lights went out on the ship and Grace told Rocky to panic only for Rocky to be like “why what happened” cuz Grace forgot he couldn’t see. I imagine that kind of slip up happened many times on the way to Erid, and with the inverse of Rocky being “did u hear that” before remembering humans can’t hear as many frequencies as Eridians

What if Grace shows Rocky some recordings from space (black holes, suns, Wow! Signal, etc) at their raw unaltered frequencies and Rocky starts freaking out because it's a really old and archaic Eridian language

they really don't make Bigass Cabinet For Computer anymore. we were at the used furniture warehouse the other day & they had so many. that's the way things should be. lock away that wretched machine when you're done looking at it
