“...mundanes aren’t supposed to know about shadowhunters. that’s how it’s always been. i‘m not trying to sound privileged.”

“okay, yeah, but those are all sort of plausible. i mean, for the most part. but unicorns? i dunno... i just think that’s reaching at this point.” alec muttered, leaning back in his chair. 

“but they aren’t supposed to be in the institute. like at all. i’m not the one who made the rules. at this point we might as well just forget what this institute is about and just...open our doors to all the mundanes.”

“me? cold feet? no. why, are you?”alec responded, arching a brow.

“there’s nothing to talk about with that. they don’t exist. don’t be ridiculous, clay.” alec said, rolling his eyes as he sat himself down across from the redhead.

“okay but why do we keep allowing m u n d a n e s in the institute? do the rules not matter anymore?”
