Experimenting with color markers

So I’ve been learning about alcohol markers lately. And it been a fun learning experience.

Basically when I finish inking my drawing I scan it and print several copies on one sheet.

I recently bought these markers so I’m still learning how each color looks on paper. Testing color combinations before I work on the final piece, takes almost 80% of the entire process. But this sort of helps me avoid mistakes on the inks.

Some colors look different from what I thought. Honestly the colors outside of the markers don’t look like how they are on paper and it’s quite frustrating. Some color combinations work better than I thought they would. I’ve learned that you can blend these markers and surprisingly some of them look so good. Like one particular, very saturated blue can be muted by light grays.

At this point it’s about getting to know the markers and finding what works.

Here are some experiments I did of Venom, Green Goblin and Superman.

Anyway I’ll be posting more soon. I’ll be moving on to the more exciting characters.
