For @haunting-heroes-creative-games Poetry-Inspired GTA, I made this comic based on "10 legs, 8 broken" by tiktok user68519586.
For those unfamiliar with the poem, it's a conversation between a spider and the human who squashed it. It's a poem that reframed how I think about and interact with bugs in my house, so it's important to me personally; but what really stuck with me is the hate the human has for the spider, mingled with fear and a sense of entitlement, it reminds me of the way the various anti-ghost characters in Danny Phantom talk about ghosts, from the disgust to the lack of care about a ghost's sense of pain, self, and existence in a world that is shared (even if ghosts are "from" the ghost zone (though many of them used to be humans, so really they're not only from the GZ)). Spiders are distinct from other kinds of bugs; as any Spider-Man fan surely knows, they're not insects! They're arachnids. They help control other kinds of bugs onenmight not want in one's house for various reasons. So Danny as the role of the spider in the poem is fitting on several levels.
When making this comic, I wanted to create distance between the humans and their humnity because of how they act, so I hid their eyes, including Jack who usually does not wear his goggles. Eyes are the windows to the soul, so by keeping theirneyes hidden from our sight (and Dannyâs), we get perspective into how he's feeling. Danny only ever has one eye showing at a time because of his own internal conflict about his status as human. There's a secret eye hidden in one of the panels, though. Can you find it? (Hint: it's symbolic)
I might post a part 2 to this eventually, but I think it feels complete as is. So we'll see!
Full poem under cut!
The first time Dani has destabilized, Ecto-Dejecto had seemed like a perfect cure.
Then she destabilized again. And the Ecto-Dejecto did still work, but Danny began to worry about what this meant for her future. Would they need to make sure to prepare periodic doses for her?
Then she destabilized a third time. It was a bit sooner than the last time, but still, no big deal! The Ecto-Dejecto worked. It would be fine, even if he needed to stockpile a bit more than his original estimates.
Then it happened again.
And again.
And again.
And a worrying trend began to emerge. Each time, it was a little harder to bring her back. Each time, the period of stability grew even shorter.
They were fighting a losing battle. Soon enough, the Ecto-Dejecto would no longer be enough to stabilize Dani, and she would die.
But they wouldnâtâcouldnâtâaccept that. So they began to search for possible solutions.
Yet no matter where any of them looked, every avenue turned up blank. Not even the ghost doctors they consulted (barged into the homes of) could offer up any real advice. Daniâs existence was just too unique.
They grew desperate.
Then they had an idea. Not a solution, but a stopgap. If they could freeze Dani, it might be enough to keep her stable until they had a solution.
Unfortunately, though Danny does have ice powers, he doesnât have the necessary expertise to turn that into cryonics.
However, he has heard of someone who just might be able to help.
A man from Gotham City by the name of Victor Fries. A true pioneer in cryogenic technology.
âŠand also a criminal confined to Arkham Asylum, but Danny can look past that. Heâs worked with worse people before.
DPxDC Side Quest
"Okay, we're sitting here doing nothing for twenty minutes already," Tim crumbles the burger wrapper in his hands, absentmindedly trying to shape it into a sphere just because he needs to keep his hands busy. "Care to spill why are we here?"
"We ain't doing nothing," Jason doesn't even look up at him â isn't that a surprise â instead leaning back in his seat. He doesn't take his eyes off the window. Tim hates sitting by the windows in BatBurgers, it always makes him feel like a fish inside the aquarium.
"That's exactly the point," he debates if he should throw his misshapen missile at his brother. Not like it will get any more sphere-like, anyway.
Jason rolls his eyes and spares Tim a quick glance, "No, I meant, we are not doing nothing. We're waiting."
"Waiting for what, the second coming of Jesus Christ?" Tim succumbs to his heart's deepest desires and throws the wrapper at Jason. It hits him right in the forehead, score for Tim. And yet, the man still doesn't rise the the bait; instead, the motherfucker laughs. It's quiet and breathless and short, but it's still a laugh.
he just looks so torture-able . like it would be a disservice NOT to torture him.. . he WANTS to be tortured

dead on main -Magical ceremony bullshit (danny is trans bc i will die on this hill)
âWait, wait-â Danny held up his hands. Clockwork smirked at his student, obviously enjoying the shit show so far. âTo stabilize Dani, I have to find my soulmate so she can absorb both their and my DNA? And she will become a baby?â
âIndeed,â Clockwork said.
âThis seems like the set up for a weird fanfiction author who loves baby fics,â Danny said, squinting his eyes at Clockwork who just smirked wider. Danny sighed deeply. âAlright fine. How do I find my soulmate?â
âA spell,â Clockwork said. âHere, let us begin.â

Jason did not think he'd wake up with agowing green mark on his chest. One that matched the Pits perfectly.
He did not like it either.
âWhat the fuck is this?â he shouted, staring at the mark in disgust.
If this was more Pit shit (probably was given the colour) he was going to loose it.
Jason spent about two hours trying to wash the mark off with various things he had in the house, his first aid kit and sadly used concoctions he found while Googling how to remove stains from skin.
Nothing. With a growl, Jason pulled on a shirt. He would have to go to the Cave, wouldn't he? Fucking hell he didn't want to. He might have a better relationship with the Bat Clan after Bruce helped fund a group who wanted to have Joker tried out of state (which resulted in the manâs death as there wasn't a corrupt judge wanting to take advantage of his chaos) but he still didn't like them. At all.
Stomping into the cave, he glared at the others who looked shocked he was there. âI need help from a magic user,â he said bluntly.
âWhatâs going on?â Bruce asked, all business in a second after his shock. Jason simply pulled the neck of his shirt down to reveal the mark.
It didn't take long for the clan to be kicked into high gear, Tim running to the Batcomputer while Bruce zoomed in like a mother hen to hover around his second eldest son who rolled his eyes.
It also luckily didn't take long for a magic user to come down. Apparently, Tim had blackmail on Constantine that everyone was surprised by.
Jason wasn't too much. The baby stalker was like that.
Hopefully, they could figure this out and get it over with.
Guys, we all know Bruce is emotionally constipated. And he would not handle his kids crying well at all. So, I present to you, Bruce and his 'don't be sad' tactics: 12 y/o Dick: Crying in his room bc something reminded him of his mom Bruce, hearing the sobs: 'oh god what the fuck do i do' Bruce, knocking on the door before opening it and setting down a plushy he had a child on Dick's bed, before quickly backing out of the room: 'fuck did that go well?'
Jason: instinctual tears because someone punched him in the nose.
Bruce: walks over to Jason to awkwardly hand him one of the candies he keeps to comfort children
Tim: Burst into tears out of sheer frustration over a case (and bc he's been up for about 48 hours) Bruce: Quietly walks over to put a mug of hot chocolate in front of Tim before getting tf out of there All the batkids have their own experience with Bruce giving them something to stop them from crying. They treasure the little moments. Because Bruce is trying. He is doing his best.
Okay but listen
Gifts as affection is legit
Bruce Wayne is a billionaire
We can get silly with the scale
Tim is frustrated crying after 48 hours awake. Bruce very gently slides the deed to his favourite Starbucks across the desk and leaves
ok but bruce just having that on hand, ready to go kinda implies that he'd bought it beforehand and squirreled it away to use at the right moment, which is very funny.
does he have more things to be used as consolement? something for each of the kids, perhaps? multiple things even, so he never runs out?
i think he's immediately going to go look for something else that he thinks tim would want to replace the deed in his gift hoard.
Danny "piece of shit teenager" Phantom is floating around being a pain in the ass in the Justice League, as normal, when suddenly, he stops in the air.
His head turns 194 degrees, and his smile stretches wide.
"Raven!" He calls, just as the cloaked half demon enters the meeting room.
She stares impassively. "Danny."
"Oh come onnnnnn" the ghost ribs, standing upside down above her like a strange mirror image. "Call me 'Dad' already!"
Raven scowls. "No."
Cyborg, who had entered the watchtower with the girl, looks between them in confusion. "Now what on sweet mother earth is goin' on here?"
Phantom's laughter grated on every eardrum in the vicinity, like cracking glaciers.
"I beat the hell out of her dad, and ate half his soul!" He explains, like it's nothing.
"I took his throne in the duel, so it's only right that I be both a better ruler and a better father, eh?"
"Not my dad." Raven growls.
Phantom just smirks at her, and tosses her a paper bag. She catches it in her magic, and immediately whips out a cookie and begins crunching on it.
On Cyborg's glance, she just glowers. "Not sharing."
Omg Heâs dead?!? No!!
Inspired by this post
In order for Danny to go ghost he has to die. Every, single, time. While it was definitely concerning at first, there r only so many times u can die and be ok before u just stop freaking out about it.
This is why when a 20 y/o Danny gets kidnapped by a cult that intends to use him as a sacrifice to a demon, he is oddly calm about the whole thing. As soon as they kill him heâll just turn into a ghost and stop them so itâs fine.
Problem, he was expecting the summoning part of this whole shebang to happen after his death. Whatever, heâs fought demons before so as soon as they do kill him heâll just have to kick this guyâs ass and then put a stop to the cult.
Only heâs plans r changed, get again, when some of the batkids show up before the cult can kill him. Double fuck bc itâs clear these guys r not equipped to handle a demon and with how heâs a little tied up right now he canât really kill himself. So with very limited options he resorts to asking the heroes to kill him.
Needless to say, Nightwing is very concerned about the seemingly suicidal hostage. Red Robin is confused as fuck and decided itâs probably best to leave the guy tied up until they could drop him off at a hospital. Spoiler thinks the guyâs just joking but gets more concerned the more he insists they kill him. Hell even Robin and Orphan are thrown off by the guyâs repeated requests for death as the fight goes on.
Itâs at this point that Red Hood, getting tired of the guys voice, decided to actually asks the guy why he wants to die.
Problem with this is Danny fucking sucks at explaining things and for some reason thinks âI can totally kick that demon dudes ass but like, only if Iâm dead.â Is a satisfactory answer.
For most of the bats itâs not. For Hood tho? Who has a better understanding of magic than the rest of the fam and has been wanting to shut this guy up all fight?
âSeems legit.â *BANG*

DP x DC prompt #217
Danny doesn't know much about his Dad's side of the family since he never talks about them. So when his dad reveals that his aunt, Danny's great aunt, is coming over for dinner, Danny's actually pretty excited. But when his dad tells him to get the door for her when she arrives, the last thing Danny was expecting to see was Wonder Woman.
Aspiring Escape Artist (part two)

"Why don't we all head inside, yes?" Mr. Wayne suggested, waving his arm in the doors general direction.
"Yes, that sounds great," Ms. Clance agreed, turning to Danny like she was debating whether or not she should drag him inside. Danny was very against that idea and glared at her. She huffed but turned and started making her way up the stairs.
The other, he can't really say kids because he's pretty sure half the people standing in front of him were over the age of eighteen, but they still lived with Mr. Wayne, apparently, so kids it was. The other kids continued to try to stealthily watch him as they made their way into the building. (He refused to call this place a house; it was bigger than Sam's manor for Ancients' sake.)
Dc x Dp #54
Dan wondered if he was about to keep most of his mind due to his own existence being an anomly amonst time itself, or if Clockwork somehow interevened because he believed that it was best he had his mind instead of being a complete child with his ridiculous powerset. Probably both, if Dan was being honest. Or should he say "Dante" now? Honestly, he knew his momma wasn't original, but seriously? Dante was the best he could do?
Momma-heh. Dan looked up at his younger counter part as he frantically moved around their small cramped apartment as he tried to wrangle Dani into her pajamas for bed. The younger child flying around and going intangible whenever her momma was too close to putting the clothes on her after their evening bath. It was domestic, somewhat, if you didn't know more about them.
Three out of four of their only kind in hiding. Hiding from those who don't understand them. Who wants to hurt them jsut because they are viewed as non sentient.
Danny could've left him alone. Simply take Dani and leave. But he didn't. He looked at him as a child. His child. Made sure he was just as safe as Dani as they disappeared from Amity and far away from the GIW. Now playing a happy family in one of the most crime ridden towns in the United States. Far enough for the GIW to not immediately look there
Dan remembers his original timeline. When he killed every hero, vigilante, and villain that stood in his way of greatness until there was nothing but weak humans who couldn't defeat him. Every alien invasion wasn't a threat, it was a work out to him. And it lead him to crave more. His need to fight. For Power. To become the strongest until there was nothing left. And yet, even then, the only person that could stop him was him.
Honestly, Dan didn't remember much during his reign. The heroes were strong, but not enough. Even the villains that turned against him weren't anything but a small distraction of the bigger things. But the biggest threat, unsurprisingly, were the bats.
Smart. Cunning. Stubborn. Put up a better fight than anyone else and got closer to anyone else to figuring out how to stop him. How to hold him down. How to make him bleed.
Yes, they lasted the longest out of all of them, and it wasn't until Dan stood over the remains of the infamous bat family did he realize: this was his family.
While only his ghost half, Dan still remembered being Danny. And more than that, he remembered Danyal: the shadow of the heir to the al Ghul name. Twin to Damien Wayne, but treated nothing but a shadow and a bodyguard.
Congratulated none for his efforts but punished twice as much for if Damien failed. He was nothing, while his brother was anything. Scars physically and mentally that he pushed into the back of his mind when he finally left the League. It was easy to see how little how they felt about him when none of them left.
When he left and was adopted by the Fenton's, everything was great. He actually succeeded about forgetting about his past life. Especially with all of the ghost business and trying to hide his identity from his parents.
But as he stood over the corpse of his brother, the youngest Robin, he wondered if Damien ever wondered about him. Wondered if he looked for him. Wondering if the great Batman knew he had another son out there. Would he turn him away if he did? Would he haved turned away Dan? It was too late to find the answers.
Until now that is.
Now, his future was a distant timeline. Broken and forgotten with no going back. But that didn't mean that the people weren't still here. He knew his father was Bruce Wayne. He just didn't know when Damien was introduced to the Wayne family.
Dan startled out of his thoughts when momma picked him up into his arm, Dani in the other dressed and snuggled against momma's chest in a sleepy daze.
He rested his head on momma's shoulder as he was carried into their small bedroom and tucked into bed. His eyes briefly closing as he felt cool lips press against his forehead in a goodnight kiss. A soft and fond voice wishing him and Dani a good night.
Dani responded but Dan stayed quiet. Not opening his eyes until the door clicked shut and his mommas ectoplasmic presenced lessened as he went to the next room. Then, his eyes opened to reveal a glowing red as he stared out the window into the cloudy and smog covered sky that was Gotham.
He was going to get the help his momma needed. He just hoped this trouble was worth that it was.
Date night after patrol
More DPxDC, the backstory of how Danny gets to Gotham
A story is slowly coming together in my head but I'm not sure how all the pieces fit yet. Dunno if everything I've posted will go into the same story but I'm just enjoying writing it for now. More under the cut!
Danny was no stranger to unfortunate circumstances. It could be said that his life was just a series of unfortunate circumstances, actually, each slotted one after the other. This wasnât much different. Just another piece in the long line of toppling dominoes that was his afterlife.
âTake the reading again,â Tucker demanded in his ear, voice crackly and strained through the Fenton Tech earpiece.

Another DPxDC drabble, this time Sam going to Bruce Wayne for help
Who knows, maybe I'll add this to the dead on main fic I'm working on. We'll see. Anyway, more under the cut.
The air was cold and clammy, laden with heavy gray clouds and drizzling sheets of rain when Sam Manson stepped out onto the driveway. The rain pattered a steady rhythm on her black umbrella and she folded her long batwing sleeve over her arm to shut the car door behind her. The sleek black airport taxi idled quietly behind her as she turned to take in the familiar mansion looming before her.
The wrought iron gate arcing above her head was slick with rain, but a singular call button and speaker sat sheltered out of the rain. Sam approached and reached to press the button with a single black-tipped finger. The speaker hummed to life a moment later.
âWayne Manor, Alfred Pennyworth speaking. How may I help you?â The voice was smooth and poshly British, and Sam took a breath of the cool October air.
DP x DC crossover
First pass at the first chapter of a DPxDC crossover fic (more below the break):
Jason didnât mean to return to his grave as often as he did. Honestly. He had no intention of ever returning to the Wayne family plot in Gotham Cemetery, but life had a mysterious way of directly contradicting Jasonâs desires.Â
So, instead, he just found himself there. Over and over: in the dead of night, or the middle of a storm, or during a city-wide blackout. Every time, it was dark and miserable and he couldnât remember getting there, couldnât remember making the decision to go, but he knew he moved of his own volition. Just not how. Just not why.
