THEY'LL BE BACK FOR SEASON 2! 🥹🤍
"‘If you ever leave me again,’ she said, her eyes stinging, ‘I swear to all the gods –’ Percy had the nerve to laugh. Suddenly the lump of heated emotions melted inside Annabeth."
I thought I would jump back on tumblr and start sharing my recent art, in case anyone isn't on IG <3
annabeth throwing her dagger at luke in the finale is crazy if you know the history. she’s throwing luke’s promise of family from all those years ago to his face after betraying percy and her. not to mention it’s THE cursed blade in the prophecy
also such wonderful foreshadowing to have annabeth see the fates cut a thread instead of percy
one of the most intimate scenes i've ever read i'm so serious
There is no heterosexual explanation for this

[PJO FUTURE SEASONS THEORY / BOOK SPOILERS]
When I first read the books 10 years ago (exactly 2014), I hated the fact that Thalia's past was non existent and in Heroes of Olympus I first thought that Jason was sort of a "Sorry!" from Rick, trying to expand on a such beloved character that dind't get enough recognition.
I hope that in Season 3 Thalia will talk about her past to Percy. There are moments where she's trying to open up to him, such as when they are in the car. Following Annabeth talking about Luke's mother, I REALLY hope that Thalia mentions having a baby brother (Jason) and her crazy mother, abandoned by Zeus, because in the books we never quite understand as why she seems to be tempted by Kronos offer and why she seems to hate the Gods.
"percy is an unreliable narrator because he undersells his skills!" no!! percy is an unreliable narrator because he managed to convince the fandom that he was completely oblivious to both annabeth's crush on him and his crush on annabeth when in reality he just refused to say it explicitly to the reader!!!!!
mind you, percy almost confessed to annabeth TWICE within one night in the titan's curse, and the only reason he didn't was because he was having an anxiety attack the first time, and because athena told him off the second time. he's being vague on purpose but it's pretty obvious what he means when he says "there was a lot i'd wanted to say to annabeth" lol
just bc he doesn't say "i have a crush on annabeth" doesn't mean it isn't obvious he's upset he didn't get to dance longer with her CMONNN
percy throws a temper tantrum when he finds out annabeth was thinking of a "boy-free tomorrow" LMFOANKGFNJVNF
he has this habit of trailing off when he's saying something vague that implies he likes annabeth romantically CONSTANTLY
ok so obviously he knows he has a crush on annabeth half of the titan's curse is him trying to find new ways to say it
now for proof that he was aware of annabeth's crush
he's connecting the dots everyone annabeth took the time to store something they recovered on their quest together wow!!!!
he's defensive over how annabeth is the one making effort (showing she has interest)
reassures her that he barely knows rachel 2. tries to change the subject when he realizes it didn't help LOL
i mean you could argue he's like this bc he's aware he has a crush on annabeth and everyone at camp openly teases them about having crushes on each other but still
by this point he's basically openly saying he knows annabeth is jealous
anywayyyyy im tired now but i made my point
(not to mention in the show he sort of implies she has a crush on him by saying she's acting weird after they hugged)
it’s the way percy said “but where’s the glory in that?” in that sardonic, resigned way of his, having undertook an already failed quest to curb a war vs luke’s speech about glory in the beginning, knowing that luke himself failed on his own quest and how glory is really that one true currency demigods can deal the gods’ affections in. it’s percy saying he is doing it for the glory, when that is farthest thing from his motivations vs luke trying and failing to gain the glory that would make the snubs from the gods chafe lighter.

See THIS is why I trust the writers because the whole point of the deadline passing was so we could SEE Poseidon surrendering for Percy. The show has given Poseidon a more active and loving role in Percys life. The gods pride would never let them surrender to one another. But Poseidon knew his brother wouldn’t spare his son’s life. And he knew the only thing that would spare his son’s life was him surrendering. ALSO FURTHER CEMENTING THAT PERCY IS HIS FAVORITE CHILD! The writers pens this episode>>>
I see a lot of people talking about the duel between Luke and Percy, and while a lot of people are correctly interpreting the moment where Percy cuts Luke and immediately apologizes and lowers his guard as another moment revealing Percy's fatal flaw --loyalty and love for his friends, an inability to contemplate betrayal and a habit of giving mercy/redemption to those people-- I think a lot of people are misinterpreting, or glossing over the next moment--when Luke retaliates
people seems to be reading the moment where Luke strikes Percy back, knocking him to the ground and drawing blood as a comment on Luke's cruelty and violence,(in contrast with Percy's loyalty and mercy) and while i don't think that's wrong, I think a better way to look at the moment is that Luke's reaction reveals his fatal flaw.
its never explicitly stated in the books, But Rick Riordan mentioned it after The Last Olympian in interviews. Lukes fatal flaw is Wrath. he is angry, blindingly, overwhelmingly angry at the gods, and Kronos is able to manipulate and twist that anger until things go so far Luke is forced to destroy himself to save the world
The duel between Luke and Percy is such a brillant scene, yes because Luke and Percy are foils, yes we see Percy's fatal flaw in Crystal clarity. but we see Luke's too--he reacts in a surge of anger knocking Percy to the ground, making him bleed, ignoring Percys apology because in the moment he doesn't care about reconciliation only revenge, he hesitates only just before killing Percy, his rage taking over. Luke doesn't make Percy bleed in this scene in a moment of cold or calculated cruelty. its swift burning and unthinking anger. its his doom. because the next moment Annabeth reveals herself, sides with Percy, and Luke runs off, isolated, where, if you've read the books, he becomes even more tragically isolated from his friends and vulnerable to Kronos' manipulation
Loyalty and Wrath cost them both in that fight. their fatal flaws indeed.
