Currently thinking about how I won an award for a history paper I wrote a few months back, and when I got up to accept the award my professor said “And this is going to horrify them, but I am going to read aloud the concluding paragraph of this paper.”

It did horrify me, because in the concluding paragraph I added a quote from Road to Hell (reprise) from the Broadway version of Hadestown. He read it… in front of all my closest peers and respected professors… he read it out loud 😟

Well at least Hadestown won me an award ig 🫩

This is so depressing but I had to block the terms “bi” “bisexual” and “lesbian” from my twitter timeline because the sapphic discourse that has been happening for the past few months is genuinely so fucking exhausting it makes me hate this online community.

And I KNOW it’s just the internet, because when I’m in queer spaces irl people are normal. When I talk to people in my queer literature/history courses, they’re normal. When I talk to queer professors, they’re normal. I’m literally going to NYC Pride on Sunday and I’m half dreading it because of how stupid this sapphic discourse has been this year. Do you people know how to do anything other than argue about people’s sexualities??

I mean I feel so awful for blocking those terms, but this shit is draining. I have so much love for the queer community, but the discourse makes me embarrassed to even identify as bisexual. I cannot believe this community has made me feel more ashamed to be bisexual than actual homophobes 🫩
