this actually makes me feel sick. a 16-year-old child should not be this resigned to suffering. he looks like he realises there's no way out, there's nothing he can do, the pain and misery will keep coming and he won't be able to get away. bone-deep weariness from living his life in constant fight-or-flight and just having to grit his teeth and get through it. he deserves all the happiness in the world for the torture he was forced to endure :(
