Emetophobia, mentions of vomiting, slightly, otherwise that's it.
"So, how was the calamari?" The cool air brushed against your skin as you walked arm in arm with your lover. Your So Kate's clicking down the paved street, your stunning cocktail dress picked out by Harvey himself, the halter neck paired with a statement necklace- the one Harvey brought you after you'd pointed it out in a store window. The plunge of the dress allowed Harvey to plan all the areas he wanted to mark you as his own throughout the night. The flow of the dress, the skirt with it's deep purple embellished just above the knee, elongating your legs in a way that made him want to worship the ground you walked on, while the night air in Manhattan was chilly, the walk back to the car was brief, so you didn't worry about fumbling with coats and suit jackets.
"Good, a little chewy, but it was seasoned nicely."
"Chewy, huh." His face shifted, "For the price, I'm paying, it should be nothing less than perfection." Harvey leant down, opening the passenger door to his signature black ferrari and you slid into the seat smoothly.
"You know, I told you I don't mind splitting the bill every now and then." you offered sweetly, as Harvey moved round to the driver's seat.
"And I told you," He placed his hand on your thigh and positioned himself facing you, the space between both of you being minimal as he lowered his voice, sultry, and slow, the kind of tone that made you want nothing more than to cover him in hickeys and scream his name while gripping silk sheets "I'm a gentleman. You don't need to pay for dinners with me, especially when we both know you've got dessert covered." and Harvey did enjoy dessert that night, evident by your dress disregarded on the floor by the time you'd left the foyer of your shared apartment, the rest of your evening brimming with bliss and passion that sparked naturally between you both.
Morning light cascaded across the room, caressing your skin as you began to wake, following the rise and fall of Harvey's chest. Your morning serenity broken abruptly as you could feel your face turning into a pale shade of green.
Practically leaping to the ensuite, you towered over the toilet bowl as the familliar dreaded wretch twisted your stomach into a knot. You sunk down to the floor, pushing against the counter the awful conclusion settling in that you'd have to deal with this impending vomiting for the rest of the day. Your stomach now turning and churning, pulling into something that felt like punishment, until it dawned on you. Food poisoning. Knowing what it was almost made the pain in your stomach more irritating as you knew it would take practically all your effort to not vomit and shit at the same time. It wasn't like you hadn't been sick infront of Harvey before, you'd been together long enough that you've seen eachother struck down by colds and flu, but this was different. At least with a cold you could still manage your normal day to day activities, mainting your usual beauty with only a slight hiccup here and there. But with food poisioning, that was practically impossible, and that thought made you feel rather vulnerable. Hunched over a porcelian bowl, looking and feeling absolutely disgusting, you'd feel at your most unattractive and you had absolutely no idea how Harvey would react.
So when he pressed against the door way and cut through the silence, you didn't even want to look at him. "It was the squid, wasn't it?" You mustered a meek nod in response, feeling the slow gurgle build itself up again before pulling your knees close to your chest and placing your head in your hands. Harvey, crossed the room, and sat opposing you, charcoal grey sweats entered your peripherals and he placed his palm against your leg, offering sympathy. You sniffled as he ran his fingertips down your bare shin. You wretched again, another attack leaving your throat, Harvey acted immediately. Grabbing your hair and sweeping it into a handheld ponytail while rubbing meaningful circles down your back until you were finished. "Stay here." It was gentle, and against your ear, he left the room quietly and moved to the kitchen. You could hear the rustling as he potted about but you pushed the back of your head against the counter as all you wanted to do right now was be swallowed by a deep pit of despair.
Harvey returned with his usual elegance, now supporting two glasses and with his pockets much larger than before. Grateful, you took in the sight before you, Harvey at his most domestic, shirtless and barefooted, with slight worry gracing his face, hair unbrushed, he didn't have his sharp courtroom edges like usual, it was different. A sight he kept hidden, reserved only for the people he let see and in that moment you could only think about how gorgeous he looked. Harvey stepped into the bathroom again, he identified each item and placed them on the counter above you. "Cold water, with ice. Peppermint tea with 2 spoonfuls of honey- don't protest I know you normally take one. You need your strength." and then he crouched down, this time next to you and produced small boxes from his pockets. "When you're ready, I've got imodium, and some advil and-" He produced from his wrist, a single black hair tie with a small grin now laced across his face emitting just how proud he felt about himself for remembering this detail specifically. His hands swept your hair up into a bundle, he moved mindfully as he pulled it into a low ponytail. "I can go out and get anything else you need too, pepto or- " You cut him off.
"No, just...stay here. Please." He placed his arm along your back, and you made yourself comfortable against his shoulder, relief washing over you, your shoulders dropped with the huffed breath you let out through your nose.
A gentle laugh left his lips. "What..?" You questioned him, looking up with genuine concern. Really what an earth could be giggle worthy in this moment?
"I'm just thinking about how pretty you look in my shirt." His smile reached his eyes as he looked down at you. The shirt itself, a plain black t-shirt. Fitted on Harvey but baggy on you, the V-neck illuded slightly, to the top of your cleavage and the hem stopped at the just at the start of your thighs, leaving your legs bare and the shirt sleeves themselves just as short too. They'd been moulded to his biceps but when you wore it, they basked in the excess space and in that moment, Harvey could only think about how gorgeous you looked.
He was all too familiar with the vulnerability you felt in this moment, but he revered in the trust you'd bestowed to him, to allow him to be the person to take care of you. He took in your red nose, shakey hands and wet eyes, he couldn't be more inlove at this moment, and while that thought made him feel like a deer in headlights, the pride in his chest made him feel integral, he'd provide for you in anyway he could and he knew you needed him right now more than ever.
It was now late in the afternoon, you'd passed out on the sofa, accompanied by a fluffy blanket, an finished bowl of soup, tissues, medicine, and a recently emptied bin, used for anything you couldn't keep down. Your eyes twitched to the sound of fingers typing swiftly along a keyboard. The heavy clicking and aggressive clacking made you stir. Harvey sat on the other sofa, plush against the cushions. His jaw clenched with his eyes glued to the screen. "Harvey." your voice was hoarse, and your throat needed clearing and Harvey hummed in response. "What are you doing?"
He didn't look up, he continued typing with the same swiftness. "I'm drafting a lawsuit sweetheart."
"For who?"
He looked across to you then, something that wasn't quite guilt, but something similar was written along his features, like whatever he was about to say, he knew you'd disapprove. "Linguinie's."
You propped yourself up with your elbows, slightly shocked by the usual Harvey audacity of it all, but your protest fell short, "Harvey- you can't do that, baby no-."
"I can and I will, food poisoning is practically grounds for assault and besides there's emotional damages."
"Food poisioning isn't assault. Harvey," you sighed. "just leave it, they messed up a dish, it happens."
It was his turn to protest; "then it's negligence, I'm not going to 'just leave it'. If it happened to you then-" but it was your turn to cut him off.
"Harvey. Can you come over here please?" A simple ask, but impossible to ignore, the plead in your voice, he folded instantly. Begrudgingly, Harvey closed the laptop and made his way to your outstretched arms, melting into you like it was exactly where he belonged. "You don't need to sue them for me. I don't want you to. We can just find a different restaurant next time we go out to eat."
Harvey thought for a moment, ready to attempt a rebuttal, but the tracing of patterns on his back and the softness in your voice were easy convincers, he'd put his gun down, just this once. "Fine, but I'm not taking restaurant recommendations from your secretary again." And while your eyes returned to feeling heavy, you quietly agreed with him.
Linguinie's never faced a lawsuit, but word got around that they did suffer an unexpected health inspection, and while there wasn't strong evidence, there was enough for you to speculate that Harvey had been the one to prompt it.
