I found him. I found the next big thing, or I should say, he sought me out. and he’s a Cleveland electronic producer by the name of Moteo, and the guy really knows what’s up. It happens once in a blue moon, but I will hear a brilliant song done by a brand new indie artist, and it strikes a chord on the first listen. That song happens to be this remix of The Notionaries indie pop track “Excited Eyes”. It’s full of deep synths, layers, and the integrity of the original track. All in all, a brilliant song. Cheers, Moteo, I hope you’re discovered sooner than later.

All right, this is the kinda shit you post because it’s about to absolutely blow up. I saw this song because it was reposted by the future bass pop icon Crankdat, and with good reason. This song takes a song that already bumps and increases its bump by 10-fold. Seriously, this is the song you throw on when your squad is about to roll out of the pregame to the actual party. This is the shit you blast in the locker room before you and your mates roll out onto the court, the field, the pool deck, whatever. This remix is a true anthem, and everyone will realize that once this is proliferated further.

Cardi Gold is an artists I’ve frequented in the past. His pleasant garage sound sticks to the genre of future bass without sounding too generic. There’s something about his synth register that gives his music almost a lo-fi sound, and this song definitely sticks to that sound. It’s nice hearing hearing some Biebs without all that smooth dancehall-based music, too.

INDIE! [indietronic]

If you’re into indietronic, then you’re gonna adore Gypsy & The Cat, who literally sound like the folk-based reincarnate of MGMT. They do a great job of mixing acoustic sounds with layered synths and subtle electronic backing. It sounds like a very modern take on psychrock. Fresh outta Melbourne, here’s to hoping these guys see some real fame soon.

TROPICAL TUNE [deep house/pop]

With tropical house all but burned out at this point, it’s nice to see that some producers are still staying within the tropical spectrum, which is a subgenre of deep house I’ve come to enjoy, despite the market flood that was last year. Paxel has managed to come out on top, releasing tunes that combine tropical, hip-hop, and surf rock. As soon as I heard his remix of Major Lazer’s “Be Together”, I knew that Paxel was here to stay. Here’s to more original tracks and killer remixes, dude.

Vincent, who might be one of my current favorite electronic artists, has taken a name change and a break from new releases for the past few months. However, he just came out with this straight original banger, full of dope hip-hop beats and a moderate amount of bass accompanied by a delicious melody of synths and altered vocals. Here’s to hoping this is the first of many new releases, because that would make me super happy.

Illenium has taken a piece of Porter Robinson, a piece of ODESZA, a piece of Said The Sky, and piece of Adventure Club, and combined them all into one super amazing mega-genre. “Fortress” takes the sweet vocals of Joni Fatora and soaks them in waves of electronic melodies. This song takes melodic electronic music to a whole new level. I’ve never heard such strong chillwave, I can’t help but be incredibly impressed with the deftness of this track.

PLS&TY (or as I’ve always pronounced it until yesterday when I bothered to read their bio, “plasty” (It’s actually “please and thank you”)) has been an artist I’ve been watching for some time now. It’s the perfect segue between dubstep, future bass, and modern instrumental trap. It’s very possible to dance to, but much more fun to just sit down and listen to. As a huge Just A Gent fan, I was increasingly pleased to see this gem of a remix on my feed. It’s pretty typical, melodic PLS&TY, and nothing pleases me more.

BUMP IT [chill trap/inditronic/remix]

Heard this song and instantly loved it. Like, loved it. RIght on par with Icarus Moth’s remix. It’s the perfect combination of the original track and vocal and instrumental alteration to make it sound original, yet maintain its roots as an inditronic hit. Plus, it’s my personal favorite alt-j song, despite being the alt-j bandwagon’s theme song.

The dreamy pop band Haerts has just remixed the rising hit “Something New” by newcomers Secret Weapons. This song has gone from pure synthpop goodness to an ambiet guitar-based symphony with infinte backing synths and a steady house-type beat from a natural-sounding drumset. As always, I’m impressed with both acts.

TAKE IT TO THE FLOOR [folktronic/progressive house]

I don’t understand how this isn’t more popular. I was floored to see that AIRGLØW had fewer than 5,000 listens on their material. In particular, “Friends” has me floored. This song combines an incredibly catchy acoustic guitar hook with heavily synthesized melodies and a driving house beat to create a song to catch everyone on the dancefloor by surprise. I’m definitely giving these guys as much support as I can, I can’t wait for that EP to be released.

OH, WORD! [future/rap/remix]

The fact that I’ve played this song over 50 times in the last 48 hours should be enough to tell you how amazing this remix is. Hands down my personal favorite Louis The Child track, this song takes an already amazing “Blase” and turns it into pure fire. In my book, this track is about 5x as lit as the original, taking the best parts of the OG and adding a solid beat and a more full backing melody. Be very careful, this song is bound to get stuck in your head.

If you’re tired of remixes and covers of this track, then I beg you to listen to one more remix of a cover. That sort of counts as a double negative, right? Either way, this On Planets remix of the Jack Ü/J. Biebs fan favorite is well worth the listen, being a full, synth-laden thing of pure chill beauty. This pup definitely deserves a bit more noteriety.

Fransis Derelle, a.k.a. Antuane Walker, is a brilliant producer out of Seattle. “I Want You” is an original track he released a few months ago, but it definitely exemplifies his style. He utilizes a pretty stereotypical style, with some commonly used samples, but layers it in a new way, giving it a very addicting sound.

“Shake” is the type of song you’ll love if you like American Authors, Young Rising Sons, Smallpools, and other classic modern indie pop acts. Youth Warrant is a fairly new indie pop band based in surf rock: light-hearted and happy-go-lucky, about relaxing and enjoying life. This song is catchy and fun, and embodies pretty much all their other music. Definitely be on the lookout for more stuff from these dudes.
