mostly sanders sides and osemanverse atm

overall: my rating is "a very good movie, but did not entirely live up to my (very high) expectations" (which is probably because the comics and the show set a very high bar), and most of my problems could have probably been solved if netty had given us a full season

anyway:

very glad we got to see both tori and imogen actually coming out on screen, though it would have been nice to see some more interactions between tori and isaac or imogen and tara (or darcy or ms singh, but i feel like tara is the one who has the most similar journey to imogen)

anna is a great actress, but why couldn't netflix have given her brown contacts, or even digitally edited her eyes, or SOMETHING! i like that nick and sarah have the same eyes in the comics and the first two seasons, but with two blue eyed parents nick's brown eyes come out of nowhere lmao

i'm glad they were able to bring back all the other actors though! including nick's dad

also alfie was perfectly cast

was actually surprised to see young nick was credited as a different actor, genuinely thought that was just kit with a snapchat filter or something lmao

also thank god david god rid of that god awful mustache, first part of his redemption arc was shaving it off

i agree with the apparently common complaint that the breakup took up too much screen time, heartstopper always had a wholesome optimistic tone even during the angstier parts, wish the movie could have had a little more joy and a little less angst

will say though that charlie's spiral was very realistically portrayed! and the picnic gang coming over to cheer him up was awesome to see

the movie included all the novella angst but couldn't have given us cheerleader harry? ok

glad they included pride, and everyone looked awesome! and it being so focused on trans rights was so needed and relevant! i only have two complaints:

1: wish tori and michael would have joined like they did in the comic

2: i'll be the first to defend this franchise against any accusations of cringe, but that one moment at the pride party where charlie saw nick talking to a stranger and probably assuming that they were flirting, meaning nick would have moved on... yeah that part did actually make me cringe a bit, bc these kind of "it's not what it looks like" misunderstandings are so overdone in romance media and i always appreciated that narlie did not fall into that trope, but now they kind of do... anyway

making mr ajayi the teacher offering his classroom to pride club was a good decision, as he had already been making a safe space for charlie back then (and possibly elle too?)

also liked that the pride club was where he and mr farouk confirmed their relationship!

not sure why they made mr lange the guy that rejected the queer club... he always seemed like an ally to me? why not have it be the headmaster like in the comic (ik he never appeared on screen in the show but we've heard his voice multiple times, so like he clearly exists)? or the previously mentioned mr reed who we knew was NOT an ally (at least not to trans people)? idk

epilogue absolutely ate, and isaac working to become a professional author was not surprising at all

would have liked to see sahar's former band mates show up to her concert like they did in the comic though! we generally didn't get to see much them in the show or movie, which was a little disappointing

alice AND patrick cameo? omg

my favorite part was by far the end credits, with the comic pages, it tied it all so neatly together
