Rosehip Rosa canina
More than 130 organic compounds can be identified in Rosehip fruit. The vitamin C content in them is 10 times greater than, for example, in blackcurrant fruit and 100 times greater than in apples. Varieties of Rosa canina selected in Poland are among the record breakers in terms of the content of vitamin C, perfectly bioavailable, abstracted from nature. They are also rich in carotenoids (such as beta-carotene, lycopene, xanthophylls) and flavonoids (astragalin, isoquercetin and tyliroside) as well as proanthocyanidins. They contain vitamins B1, B2, B3, (PP), A, E and K. The fruit of Rosehip are also a source of minerals, both macroelements - including phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium - as well as microelements: iron, copper, manganese and zinc.
Polyphenols present in Rosehip have antioxidant activity due to their direct reaction with free radicals and by inhibiting or strengthening the action of enzymes. The research indicates that in the presence of polyphenols the physiological effects of ascorbic acid can increase from 50 to 400%. Natural vitamin C, in comparison with the synthesized vitamin C, is absorbed better by the human body and is 3 ÷ 5 times more active. For comparison, our body uses the synthetic form of crystalline ascorbic acid H6C8O6 (or E300) only in 30-40%. Natural vitamin C is absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract in a better way. Its action if more effective, because it reaches the necessary concentration in the body faster and maintains it longer. In nature, it is always present with the flavonoids, phenolic acids, and carotenoids, which stabilize it and provide a synergistic effect.
