Its been NINE YEARS and i still dont think anyone knows exactly why teen titans was cancelled
Same reason Young Justice and Green Lantern The Animated Series were canceled: Girls liked it. Bruce Timm finally up anâ said it out loud in an interview a while back when he was asked why in the hell GL:TAS had been canceled when it was doing so well on every front; DCâs animation department has institutionally decided that feee-males donât/canât/shouldnât like superheroes, so even if a show is drawing in great viewership numbers and has great toy sales, once they find out that itâs popular with women and girls, they pull the plug on it. Cartoon Network loved Teen Titansâ two million viewers for new episodes will do thatâ and wanted a Season Six, and the production staff was already in the planning stages for it; they were going to have a big arc about Terra and why she was Living Normal, and do a lot more with the extended Titans team members.
This is so fucked up.
To elaborate on this point a bit, the reason this happens is that modern television merchandising aims for total market segregation.
In a nutshell, itâs much more efficient to sell things to people if you can divide them up into tightly defined subcategories that have no interests in common; that way, you never risk accidentally competing with yourself.
This is why childrenâs toys (and toy sales channels) are actually much more strongly gendered these days than they were forty, thirty, even twenty years ago: one of the basic market segregation splits theyâve decided to use is âboys versus girlsâ.
Ever wonder why you see Avengers t-shirts that leave Black Widow out of the group shot, or Guardians of the Galaxy action figure lines with no Gamora? Thatâs market segregation in action.
The upshot is that shows with crossover appeal can actually be cancelled for being too popular with girls; theyâre viewed as âstealingâ the female market from the specifically girl-targeted media that rightfully âownsâ it.
This is the sort of thing folks are talking about when they say gender roles are socially constructed, by the way. The gender split in media merchandising? Itâs not just artificial, itâs deliberately imposed as a top-down marketing strategy. When folks try to justify it by saying âthis is the ways itâs always beenâ or âthis is just what the market wantsâ, theyâre lying through their teeth - this is, in fact, the merchandisers dictating to the market what it wants in order to sell stuff more efficiently.
(Interestingly, the reverse isnât always true: if a specifically girl-targeted show unexpectedly becomes popular with boys, sometimes rather than being cancelled, its merchandising will shift to court the male collectorâs market. TV execs are so sexist, even their sexism is sexist.)
It gets worse.
Paul Dini, a writer/producer said this on a podcast: â Thatâs the thing, you know I hate being Mr. Sour Grapes here, but Iâll just lay it on the line: thatâs the thing that got us cancelled on Tower Prep, honest-to-God was, itâs like, âwe need boys, but we need girls right there, right one step behind the boysââthis is the network talkingââone step behind the boys, not as smart as the boys, not as interesting as boys, but right there.ââ
Cartoon network and Warner brothers deliberately made the conscious decision to dumb down their female characters because they want to push female viewers away. In fact, Tower Prep was cancelled because it had too many female viewers because the writers made too many well written female characters.
So shitty representation of girls isnât something that just happens. Itâs the result of deliberate planning just so the execs can make more money.
And itâs not just cartoon network. I mean, why do you think Nick fucked over Korra so badly? Remember them telling Bryke they didnât want a female Avatar? Why do you think there are no Korra figurines or action figures?

Wow, this makes me so undescribably angry.
What the fuck
THAT is why I will always support female creators over males any day.
to this day i cannot BELIEVE aang called up and blew off like nine avatars just because they didnt offer any vegan options to ending the war
roku: my best friend assaulted me as a senior citizen :(
kyoshi: sometimes some murder is OK
kuruk: just punch people that disagree with you
aang: okay iâm starting to think that none of you took this avatar thing seriously
You're not wrong
Aang when he is told heâs the Avatar at age 12: *has a melt down because he understands the seriousness of this function and the consequences his new responsibilities will have on his personal life*Â
other Avatars at age 16:Â Iâm the avatar? Cool! Hey look it comes with a glowing eyes feature!Â
aang: fuck this noise, iâll get advice from the last air nomad avatar
yangchen: i gave up that hippie bullshit first chance i got, i love murder

New print is coming!Â
The Cathedral (by Jordi Rios)
âYou canât be doing this, the effort would kill you.â
He dosnt seem mad to realize Luke isnât really there. The blind rage is gone, the tantrum is over. Thereâs no more âI want to kill you!â Or âYou are killing yourself so I canât.â Itâs a sad resignation. The little sigh and pressing his lips together, heâs sad and angry but a part of him understands. He knows that wherever Luke is, heâs about to die alone. He understands his Uncle is killing himself just to apologize. Look at Benâs face and tell me there wonât be a damn redemption arc.
Reblogging for âthat comment. đđđ
I would also like to add that I read it as; he had his moment to kill the man he thought he hated, and he finally did it. At least he thought he did and perhaps he realised that he didnât really want that in the end. The last 6 years of his life were dedicated to hunting down and killing his master but when the time came he realised that it was his uncle that he had just run through with a lightsaber. Luke was right âstrike me down in anger and Iâll always be with you.â For a split second, Ben thought he killed the last living member of his family and he regretted it. He finally understood that literally âkilling his pastâ was not the answer to stop his pain. He realises that he had lost himself to the dark side for a vendetta which was ultimately unsatisfying and inconsequential. Only to discover that his uncle was dying anyway.Â
The look on his face after he realizes Luke isnât there is so sad. He thought he wanted to kill his Uncle and for a moment he thought he did. Instead of the triumphant look he had after killing Snoke, he looks the opposite, sad and pained. Itâs the realization that he doesnât want Luke dead. What he wanted all along was for him to apologize. But now itâs too late because he is dying. Heâs killing himself to apologize.
Luke didnât come to Crait just to save the Resistance. He came to Crait to save Ben Solo. Luke distracted Ben long enough to give the Resistance time to escape and prevented Ben from doing something he would end up regretting when his hurt and anger burned off. He gave him a target for that anger and rage and in doing so, allowed Ben to come to the realization he needed to grow. It was Lukeâs final lesson to Ben.
Thatâs why I donât think we will see Ben sticking around with the First Order for long. The sacrificial death of Luke Skywalker and Reyâs hardened expression when she shut the connection on Crait are the pushes Ben needs to move towards his redemption. In my opinion both of those things are going to help him realize that he doesnât want to be Vader.

Tips That Can Save Your Kidâs Life.
THIS IS IMPORTANTÂ
When I was a child, from the time I was about four and could understand things, my mom told me and my brother that we should have a secret word. That way, if we were ever in trouble or felt unsafe and we didnât want the people around us to know we needed her to come get us, we could let her know. So she let us pick the word and my brother and I chose the phrase âpeanut butter cups.â (Iâm happy to share the phrase now since both my brother and I are adults now).Â
I used the phrase twice in my life. Once, I was at a friends house when I eight years old. Her dad got really drunk and was throwing things against the wall. I was really scared and I didnât want to draw attention to myself on the phone when I called my mom to come get me because I didnât know if he would get more violent if I asked her to come get me. So I called her and was calm and after a couple minutes I asked âHey mommy, did you get me those peanut butter cups from the store?â And she said âIâll be right there.â And she came and got me within minutes.Â
Second, I was a teenager spending the night at a friends house. Her brother and dad were drinking and they started talking about things that made me uncomfortable - ie: what they liked to do to women. My friend didnât seem perturbed and said that was normal for them and that I shouldnât worry. But I was worried because they were really drunk and I was 15 and the only âwomanâ around that wasnât related to them. I went in my friends room, told her I needed to call my mom and say goodnight. Before I hung up with her I asked âNext time we go to the store, can we get some peanut butters cups? Iâve been craving them.â And she came and got me, just like that.Â
Two incidents, one as a young child, one years later as a teen. Donât discredit this stuff, it fucking works. My brother used it a few times too. Let your child pick the word and no never, ever, ever, ever get mad at them for using it no matter what it is.Â
DO NOT SCROLL PAST THAT.
Off topic, but very important! I was taught to yell âthis is not my mom/dad.â A young kid freaking out in public is likely to be ignored out of embarrassment, but a kid telling you right out that they donât know who is messing with them? That will turn heads.
VERY IMPORTANT!!Â

Black Panther made it very clear that white Hollywood just doesnât know how to write a female warrior in love.
Okoye loved a man too, but her story wasnât ABOUT him.
He didnât have to teach her a damn thing
She didnât give anything up for him.
She didnât go evil for a quick second and go on a rampage, losing herself, because she lost him.
She didnât entertain, for even a miliisecond, compromising herself for him
She wasnât crying over him
Their relationship wasnât shoehorned in for no reason other than âthere has to be a romanceâ
Most of her scenes had nothing to do with him
Except for the last point, all of that applies to Nakia too⊠but in addition
When he interrupted her work, she was angry and allowed to say something along the lines of âyou ruined my mission!â unapologetically
She continued to do her job
She continued to thrive separate from him
Love for a single man didnât outweigh her love for humanity and it wasnât something she had to agonize over. It was a simple decision that wasnât considered a real conflict for her.
In general, love didnât make these heroes and warriors weak. It didnât make these women vulnerable in a way that didnât fit their personalities or compromise their duties.
In fact, we only saw love do that twice - when TâChalla saw Nakia and when TâChalla watched Zuri die.

First look at Ainbo, an animated film by José Zelada at Tunche Film (Peru).
Ainbo is a girl born in the Amazon rain forest. She is protected by Motelo Mama, a gigantic turtle and the most powerful spirit of the forest. Her life changes when Yacurunu, an ancient demon, threatens her home. Â
The project will be presented in Berlin for international sales, but the delivery date is still unknown.Â
