There’s a lot of things that you can do in a library (for free!) that it will never be obsolete. 

 i volunteered at a library all summer and libraries are absolutely not becoming obsolete. i mainly worked in the kids section and you wouldn’t believe the amount of kids that were there every day and so excited about it. we have a big summer reading program where if you read so many hours then you get a free book and by mid july there were a lot of kids (like,,, 7-10 years old) who had read 20+ hours. every day there were kids there to hang out with friends while their parents talked or to do a craft or whatever else. one time there was a mom walking out with her kids after a tie dying program and her kid yelled “wait i didnt get a book!” and the mom said “you got books yesterday!” like,,, this kid was at he library 2 days in a row and wanted to get more books anyhow (btw, the mom let the kid get another book before they left). and yeah there’s computers and tech help and community resources as well,, but even without all of that, libraries are still a super important part of some communities

don’t make other people’s decisions for them. apply for the job you don’t think you’ll get. let them decide if you have the skills they’re looking for. tell that person you like them even though you think they’re out of your league. let them decide if they like you. stop trying to predict and control everything. bring what you have to the table. let the rest go.
