Oil on linen.
Do you ever meet someone who sort of upends and shakes up your entire identity/purpose of yourself?
I know this artist whose work I absolutely adore. But it extends so much deeper after meeting her and briefly getting to know her. I think, and I really hate admitting this, but I’d like her life. She paints all day in her gorgeous studio, makes beautiful images, reads, dreams, makes magic. She travels, practices ballet, wears beautiful clothing and is beautiful herself. She seems to be everything I am not, and everything I want to be.
When I contrast this to my life, I feel such self hatred and disappointment. It’s a horrible feeling that, to be honest, I’ve never felt before. Yes, I am jealous of certain aspects of other’s lives, but this feels significant. This disgust with my situation and sort of trapped feeling seems insurmountable and permanent.
Maybe I’m just depressed; summertime sadness.
It's easy to stay motivated to get outside and go places when Guillermo del Toro is walking behind you, pushing you forward with his psychic powers.

Ok, I definitely prefer Matthew Rhys craggy and older. I am just not into boyish looking men. 45+ is the stuff.

Ok, Matthew Rhys has creeped his way into my psyche. When I first watched The Beast in Me when it came out, I kept thinking, “God, I hate this man, I hate the way he looks, ugh.” And then by the end of the show I wanted him to degrade me. Now he is the newest object of my celeb affection.

alright I've got to do some quick math to explain attitudes towards AI to my boss.
we're looking to create an AI policy, and when we were talking about this, my boss (older millennial) was genuinely shocked to hear that younger people do not (seem) to view AI positively (a la the recent commencement speakers being booed)

I’m feeling like the time to write and document my birth experience is here. It has been over three years since my daughter was born and a lot of problems I’ve been experiencing postpartum almost feel like a thing of the past. And I think in getting over that large obstacle is clearing the way for me to finally confront the birth experience and all its traumas and joys.
Lots of things outside of myself have helped spur this: an episode of Paradise, the Pitt finale, a Two Girls One Ghost episode, random facebook posts targeted towards me, the passage of time, and seeing my tiny, beautiful daughter grow up. Strange, I know.
I’m going to have to divide things into parts because it was long and arduous and my mind holds so many details that I aim to never forget albeit painful. And then honestly, I’ll have to recount immediate postpartum because that is in and of itself a traumatic period of time that has unfortunately become a blur.
No one needs to read this, but this is for my memory bank and to honor the people who helped me get through all these moments.
