the thing is. this is what i would call an inside thought. nobody would have known you didn't get it if you didn't tell them that. if you recognised that it was important but didn't have the headspace to process it, you can reblog without commentary for others, or to come back to later. or you can save it somewhere and wait until you DO have the capacity to read it over a few more times, ponder it, consider what it might mean, figure out how to understand it, and THEN reblog it

but no. rushing to reblog while it is still opaque. rushing to admit to ignorance rather than spend the time to achieve understanding. perhaps hoping that somebody will break it down for you more simply, though to my mind it was quite simply phrased in the first place. never stopping to take the time first

comprehension is not always instant! sometimes it takes a bit of time for something to percolate after you read it; sometimes you need to read it a few times; sometimes you realise you don't have the context for it and either go and get the context or accept that it's not for you right now

Also, OP, what do you mean "the parent is the only person who can save them in a world with no censorship"? Do you think censorship "saves" children? From... what, exactly?

I've been in this kind of environment. It was called a cult.

Statistically, conservative communities that find the world to be a scary place when it doesn't fit their narrative use language like "saving" to keep their youths isolated, and statistically, they boast the highest rates of abuse and violence, paired with lowest education scores and critical thinking skills. When you don't teach people what bad looks like, they don't learn recognize it or escape it. This is how abusers and cults operate. Censorship literally does the opposite of helping people save themselves.

Children are people. They share the world with us, and they're not stupid; they definitely know what's going on. They don't need "saving" from reality - they need to be taught how to navigate it. Keeping them ignorant only spares the parents from having difficult conversations and finding age-appropriate ways to help them. It's lazy parenting.

I was once made to watch an Explicit movie as a child - the sex stuff just went right over my head, because I didn't get it; the gore scene is something I shudder to remember. But you know what? I moved on. Most people do. Encountering things you don't wanna see is a part of life. I promise you, most children survive random internet shit just fine.
